I've been thinking recently POG needs a new revolutionary text based forum game. I've been thinking of trying to design a space-themed exploration game (not unlike Risk) but mechanics could get complicated. Whether or not it becomes POG's next big thing, does anyone want to help design a game like that?

Some inital ideas I had include the game setting in a 3d grid representing a Galaxy, each player starts on a planet at random coordinates, has x amount of population that can be trained for troops, research, builders etc. Point of the game being to expand or die? I dunno, could be fun. Thoughts?

I would play any of 'The Genius" reality tv show games.

Some are just twists to werewolf but others like the 1,2,3 game have great potential.

We def need to play this. Most definitely.

There are so many great games. Unfortunately a lot of them are much much better suited for live play, but given that there are 3 seasons and that it seems like they are doing new main matches each time there should be enough to choose from.

What about running something similar to those Challenge shows that air on mtv? I see those shows mentioned here a lot, but I dont actually know if they could translate to le interwebs

It has it's own thread in OOTV. And the episodes are available with subtitles on the internet (youtube and a few other sites).

I could work on modding a version of this. The main question though, is, what would be won in lieu of garnets? What incentive do people have for winning, currency for bartering etc.?

Garnets would first and foremost have one of the same values it has in the real game: That it can be used to gain advantages in certain main matches and deathmatches (it is SUPER crucial to have garnets for some of them, especially Indian Poker).

Other than that you could maybe do one or both of the following two things:

1) You could have a rule that when the game reaches final 5, for example, that anyone that doesn't have >X number of garnets is eliminated from the game. Or some variant of this.

2) You could try to have forum prizes somehow. Like maybe say the winner gets a custom undertitle if he/she wins with 100 garnets. And then you'd have to think of other prizes. Maybe people could volunteer prizes. I'll volunteer a song :P

So essentially with n signups I need to include n different games. Turbo, sheep, etc. could be included. Could probably come up with other analytical/puzzle games.

Should head-to-head elimination games all be thunderdomes? I think that would be fun.

Sorry, but this is all wrong :P

Every single game in Genius game has the added factor of alliances / deals being important. So you can't just do thunderdomes or sheeps - that's not in the spirit of the game. Unless you change the rules of those games so that collusion and such is possible. I guess sheep with collusion could work.

You will be HOOKED. Or well, you will be hooked even after the first episode, but the first 3 episodes are perhaps the strongest start to a reality game ever.
