In the context it was asked, it meant battery/mains. If you're asking if, for example, it covered a wind-up toy, it did not cover that condition. That's how I interpreted it anyway.

I just wanted to rule out things like a solar-powered wristwatch, but I'm guessing I can seeing as You weren't so picky originally.

Is it smaller than a 25ml shot glass?

Yeah I would say solar power was covered by the original (basically electricity or equivalent). Whereas your follow-up covered all others, such as strictly mechanical.

Now I'm out for sure. But to answer that last one...

Yes, I would also consider the examples you gave as being "things." Like I said, the distinction can be tricky.

I wouldn't consider either of those things, but places or locations. Technically I guess they could be considered both but especially in the context of this game I think they're making much more sense to be grouped with places.

We've had specific buildings be run as a place and a thing depending on who was running it. The "one-of-a-kind" question helps merge them, but maybe all buildings, landmarks, etc. should be considered places since they are unique (like every other place) and having to ask that question if it's a thing might be an extra question that shouldn't be necessary based on the category.

It'd still be a decent question due to artwork, memorabilia and stuff like that. But structures, bridges, tourist attractions etc are heavily associated with specific locations and imo goes better in the places category because they tend to require a different line of questions.

Probably doesn't matter much, just my 2c.

Fwiw places is probably a worse 20Q category than things in the sense that they more often end up with eliminating stuff from a list, but it makes for some great virtual sight-seeing and I don't care as much figuring out if someone is thinking about a road sign or maybe a spork

I agree with Nick fwiw. I would consider anything that can be found on google maps to be a location.

But yeah, it probably doesn't matter too much either way.

And of course, if all else fails, just blame eyebooger.

This is the clear lesson. If we remember this, we can never fail.
