with 3 questions left i think we have to kinda go for a hail mary so maybe pick a few of the most likely bands and try to narrow it down for a guess on Q20

So we somehow have to narrow down 21 bands to one AND pick the correct song by that band within 2 questions...

Chilliwack and DOA were active before 1980. New Pornographers' first album was released in 2000.

Is #15 about the song or the band?

Voivod don't have the word "rock" in their wiki genre.

They do have: Progressive metal, thrash metal, speed metal, alternative metal

Nickelback has at least 1 #1 Adult top 40 song, though, so please get rid of them from the list.

The trews have no singles or albums released in the 90s, even though they formed in 1997

This is what I got, with the top 3 being imo the most likely candidates:

Sloan
54-40
Crash Test Dummies
Matthew Good Band
Great Big Sea
Northern Pikes
Moist
Spirit of the West
Odds
Wide Mouth Mason

I don't think that matters. That would only disqualify that particular song, no?

If it's an adult top 40 song it disqualifies the whole band.

That would only disqualify that particular song, not the band.

Will be nearly impossible to guess a song that was not a top 40 hit or identified with any movie or TV show.
