So, the song was released in 87, so it can only have reached 4th to 10th on billboard hot 100 in 87 or early 88...

and we only have a guess left.

If it was released in 87, how could it not only be contained to 87/88 charts...

Songs sometimes take a little while to gain popularity. And sometimes they gain popularity through means other than simply being released as a single.

So, of the official members (i.e., those named on the group's Wikipedia) that I could find pictures of, it looks like it's about 50/50 white/non-white. It's not an easy group to find pictures of all the members.

Probably in a movie or TV show some years later..

Even just one year later could've helped it chart outside of 87-88, imo. Though I'm not 100% why it charted. Who knows how these things happen?

I've run the numbers and, unless D1iab ate his Wheaties this morning, there's no way you guys are getting this. This is like spork-level **** here.

In short, I don't plan on letting this hang on for too long before closing it out.

I just went through a list of major albums released in 1987 and late 1986 (assumed 'released' meant released as a single), couldn't find anything.

Huey Lewis & The News had a few tracks off a 1986 album which were released in 1987 and fit, but other things don't fit.

And sometimes singles are released before the album.

What you are saying is that you watched me spend enough time on the wrong direction, and now that we have the exact year (which should be helpful), it is a hopeless situation and you would like it to ends very soon.

Is that a fair way of summing it up?

Just catching up now.

Haven't had a chance to look into this yet but please don't reveal until I do (after lunch).

I think this should still be gettable.

No, that's not what I'm saying.

But it is very unlikely the song is guessed correctly at this point. And I'm not interested in delaying the inevitable for too long.
