Number of hands

I was wondering peoples thoughts on how many hands HU do you need against a player before you can look at a HUD stats to get a true reflection?

Are we talking 1k+ or more ?

The reason I ask is I'm still a micro cash player but love to play HU and I want to become good, I'm very aggressive and seem to be able to crush .25 .50 but once I get a decent roll the urge to move up stakes takes over and then I end up going bust at normally 1-2.

I'm trying to stop it but I love a challenge.

Re: Number of hands

Depends on villain, obv your gona know a fish as little as ten hands in, in which case your not really gona need to adjust, against a reg I'll start to look at HUD and try to adjust as few as 50 hands in.

Then every 50 hands or so have another look and re-adjust, if your planning to play regs you'll get crushed if you wait to 1k hands before you adjust(especially since few regs at nl50 will even play for 1k hands).

emm br issues ? i think it is more important for you to move down once you lose a % of ur roll and rebuild your roll instead of going bust. variance is a bitch in hu cash and in higher limits you are gonna be forced to play with v competent opponents since bumhunting is less viable

Re: Number of hands

OBV depends on the stat. A stat like button VPIP is usually quite accurate already after like 20 hands. But then you have stats like 4b% that need more hands before getting accurate. That's obviously because 4bet spots don't appear every hand.

If you know what the stats in your HUD mean it's not that hard to figure out how long it takes approximately before they are getting meaningful.

Re: Number of hands

Thanks for the replies.

I do adjust as the game is played, I don't wait for x number of hands.

BR is an issue but I find playing full ring way to slow, I like to be playing poker at decent speed so for me HU is great.

I don't really have the roll for any of the hu stakes due to them on stars starting at 25/50 nl but for me to play ring to take out the variance and build a roll I feel I would lose interest unless I played like 6 tables +

How do people who play HU cash build a roll or were they lucky enough to be able to deposit enough money to be rolled for the level they started at ?

have the discipline to grind 6max low limits until you have the roll for HU, if you cant beat micro 6max youll find beating 50HUNL difficult even if you do bumhunt.
