NL100 - 77 vs competent player

Several hands in to the match. By the way he's playing i can tell he's an agro player or builds up an image, (runs hot, meh). I make 3bet he snap 4bets - i fold. Very next attempt i 3bet this hand, he defends and snap min-reraises me, i snap min3bet him. He thinks for awhile and flats. By that weird turn bet trying him to shove many of his bluffs/draws, but unfortunately he's got some kind of weak draw+pair/jack/KQish and chooses to flat again. The real question is: given created dynamic, should i fire away on the river?

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $1(BB) Merge
Hero ($137)
($114)

Dealt to Hero 7 7

raises to $3, Hero raises to $9, calls $6

FLOP ($18) 3 A J

Hero bets $11, raises to $22, Hero raises to $33, calls $11

TURN ($84) 3 A J 4

Hero bets $36, calls $36

RIVER ($156) 3 A J 4 5

[color=red]Hero c-f?

Maybe check-call? But it feels that he's gotta shove his good jacks and he is prob not firing away often missed or double/floats. How about bet/fold? Not many players and not always just flat turn there with some A9, and despite that we don't gain much at all with our river shove, we are actually bluffing, given great odds, to deny him the chance to bluff, when we are unsure if he is ever bluffing there?

Nothing of what you say and do makes any sense so I doubt you would make any sense of my advice.
We're probably on different levels, sorry.

I'm trying to decide what i dislike the least. Preflop, flop, turn, or river. Probably river, because you havent even acted yet so you havent managed to **** it up already.

next time you are in this situation, on every street think about how you played it this time. then do the opposite.

Flop CiB is fine can get value from KQ type of hands. Once I get to river this way I'd go for the ch/c. Don't expect villain to bet anything but air here.

Re: NL100 - 77 vs competent player

It looks as though you're really confused, to be honest. The best advice I can give you is to go through the hand and think about what you're trying to accomplish with your actions.

I think you got your intentions and ranges completely mixed up. Just think this through again and really think about your opponent's (realistic) ranges and what your best play is vs these, starting with your PF 3bet.

There's a type of opponent against which 3betting small/medium pp's is optimal imo, but this probably isn't the one.

Re: NL100 - 77 vs competent player

Don't 3bet pf.
Don't 3bet flop, just fold.
Don't bet turn after he calls your flop 3bet.
Time to c/f river now.
