Just thought I'd post this hand, I guess maybe it's really standard but I'd like to check, if anyone could find the time to reply I'd appreciate it

Reads...my notes say UTG seems limp/calls quite a bit with garbage hands and also plays low-mid PPs this way sometimes. SB I don't have any specific history/reads on. Just looks like a fairly typical (not very good) 20NL player from the few hands I've played with him.

CO ($19.67)
Hero (BTN) ($21.35)
SB ($20.08)
BB ($57.29)

Pre-flop: ($0.30, 5 players) Hero is BTN Q K
UTG calls $0.20, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.84, SB calls $0.74, 1 fold, UTG calls $0.64

Flop: Q K A ($2.72, 3 players)
SB checks, UTG bets $1.36, Hero raises to $4, SB raises to $9, UTG folds, Hero folds?

I think this is straightforward fold, but I think that quite often in threads and then am surprised to see people advocating otherwise. So thought I'd check up on one kinda random hand...

meh id prolly fold here. we wont have a set often but he will have hands like JT and AQ. his cold 3bet on the flop screams strength and bottom 2 pair just isnt doing well against that range

i prefer just a call on the flop, raising only gets you to tango with better hands

I don't think I can flat a half-pot bet here with SB still left to act. I'd rather find out where I am on the flop before things get weird since there are obviously a lot of cards I don't want to see on latter streets.

finding out where you are isn't a good reason to bet... raise for value or to bluff. you can't do either with this hand

that said i didn't see he bet half pot, maybe you can raise for value if he is the kind of guy to do this with Ax or to see a cheap card with a flush draw.

if you do raise and he 3bets you are def folding, i think you're right and your friends are wrong about that

its fold or shove, dont call half your stack, then fold. just transfer the guy money and get to the next hand faster
