Whenever you've got 2x reg1, 2x reg2, ..., 1x rec you've got an odd total which means someone is getting left out - if it's the rec and he has to wait more than like 5-10 sec he's gonna think the game broke and quit. Suggestions to stop this from happening:
1. Hurry up all your decisions towards the river whenever you're playing vs the other regs. You can take your time on the river while the rec is actively playing. This way, if you get matched with the reg at both tables you should often have a hand very near completion. You can now complete that hand and get the rec right back into playing. If you've played vs me in zoom you probably see me timebanking some basic preflop folds in spots like this, now you know why.
2. An extention on that, but maybe less obvious - don't think so damn hard about situations when the rec is currently left alone. The decision that ends the hand as quickly as possible is probably the higher EV choice here, but if you simply can't fold early in the hand then make your choice fast and hopefully your opponent can.
3. Try to keep the totals even. Sometimes this means varying if you're playing 1 or 2 tables, but just keep your eye on the lobby because the total under 'Plrs' doesn't update as quickly as the preview window with everyone's names in it. If you see that someone just joined and it brought the total to odd, drop a table (or add one) to fix it temporarily, and feel free to go back to your preferred number afterwards. Which brings me to...
4. Watch the lobby even when you're playing reg vs reg with nobody else. Sometimes a rec will join and one reg is timebanking on both tables without realizing the rec will quit before even playing 1 hand.
I know this is gonna sound like bumhunter logic to some of you who might think this is silly to think about. It's important to realize that the bottom line is: if the recs don't enjoy this format, HU is gone from stars. IMO the recs are only gonna enjoy this format if they get to play lots of hands at a fast pace. If they end up sitting around a bunch of the time at an empty table while the 2 regs in the pool timebank, they're going to just get confused and cashout of the site because they think HU zoom sucks. It's only going to be fun if zoom lives up to its namesake.
