moving up in stakes

So I played a while in 25 heads up nl and 10 dollar heads up sngs. i won about 800 in the 10 dollar heads up sngs at about a 11% roi. I guess its ok but i hear you need to be around 20% at this level. I won about 1355 at 25 nl with about a 10 bb win rate over 52 k hands. But i have had some tilt sessions where i have lost about 12 buy ins weeee. The question is when do you move up in stakes? I don't seem to run well when i do play. I end up tilting sometimes and losing more. Do you have to wait until you lose the tilt issue?

My ev is around 300 higher at both games so im not running great but it can be frustrating all the bad beats. the problem goes to tilt mode. If your tilting and have a bad 12 buy in loss session do you just stay at the stake level your at? I think have had one 12 buy in loss, a 10 buy in loss and 8 buy in loss. After like the 3rd buy in loss im full blown tilt and it gets ugly i turn into more aggressive player then isildur. Its so hard to quit when they are playing every single hand refusing to fold and there not playing a optimal style of poker but they run so well it drives me nuts. So do you just move up anyways and realize your going to tilt or do you wait at lower levels until you have better control of it. I watched some successful heads up players play at the higher levels there tilt control is amazing. iwatched a guy get sucked out on 3 times on the river and this guy just kept playing his game stacked guy off. then i watched him against other opponents its like there is no tilt to him. he has a great win rate. kind of discourages me from moving up.

Re: moving up in stakes

i would move up to 50NL as soon as you have a BR thats enough b/c the rakes so high lower than that ~ i'd be happy with 1K but if your worried about your mental game i suggest more than 30 buyins so less pressure

you have to learn to deal with losing stacks in HU and not letting it affect you (it took me a while and even now i sometimes feel tilted for a few hands but i just think about my game plan as a whole and i'm then back on track). Mark the hands that tilt you then go over them after your sesh, then identify whats tilting you and try to realize its not logical so it won't affect your play.

Re: moving up in stakes

well im up about 2600 right now. But if i could control the tilting id be up so much right now. Probably about 60 buy ins i threw away on tilting. That is ridiculous. I dont know maybe playing for more money will make me hold back more from tilting who knows. But definitely adds up fast when your running bad. Its shocking like man where the money go. But regardless i have to move up at some point if i keep winning. I am not to sure what a comfortable stack size would be. My tilting is very volitale on my stack. Seems like i take world record losses it short amounts of time. I think i lost almost 1 k one day at 25 nl that is ridiculous has to be world record. Its so bad I should of you tubed it. I think i took like 5 bad beats for the first 2 players and then i was charity to the poker community after that.

Play anyone who sits you at 50nl, and game select 100nl. You are well rolled to play those stakes.

Re: ****BEGINNERS THREAD (New posters please read)****

Just thinking to start with HU after a while playing SH. Some questions:

Are there rooms that offer microstakes HU? Stars offers from NL50? Or is it wise to start with the HUSNGs?? Which room is best for HU?

Which stuff you recommend to study before hitting the tables? For the beginning I prefer free stuff (or almost free) because I'm just starting maybe it turns out as a dissaster or I dont like it. If I like it I'm willing to pay for studymaterials/memberships.

For study and startingroll I've $200 reserved for this "project". Hope it gives me a nice start!!

with 200$ i would almost definitely say ur better off with sngs. id play them until i got to 50nl or at least 20nl.

with your level of experience i'd say u could actually get a decent bit out of this forum, and this thread. you might consider reading thru it.

Re: ****BEGINNERS THREAD (New posters please read)****

I am playing sngs and because the edges become smaller and smaller i would like to learn heads up or 6 max heads up but i have some question

1)Which is a sustainable/realistic bb/100 in nl50 and in nl100 seperately
2)Heads up or 6 max to start with?I know it is totally different strategy but which is the most easy to learn?
3)When you say bb/100 and you have for example 2bb/100 in nl100 this means you make 2$/hr if in one hour you play 100 hands?
4)Are the edges going down in cash games too so much as the sngs?
5)Which site would you recommend for hu cash?

Thank you guys

1.) are you playing regs? are you good? i mean no way to answer that without more info about who youll be playing. some ppl beat it for in the 20s bb/100 wise.

2.) which ever one u enjoy the most. this is by far the most important factor. do the one u can put hours and hours of your time into studying and playing and enjoying it.

3.) yes.

4.) idk, but yeah edges are continually decreasing--games are tougher. doesnt mean u cant still crush and make money though.

5.) stars would be a good start.

Cannot possibly be emphasized enough. There are no stronger correlations than interest for a field/mental energy expanded to master that field and mental energy expanded/rate of progress.

Hello.

I'm a tournament player who's looking to get into HU NL.

Is Pr1nnyraiding season 1 still relevant for newbies?
Which other video series (if any) should i watch before starting to grind seriously?

Thanks
