Buy Jared tendlers mental game of poker and do the necessary work, I believe it was mr A. Einstein who said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Really depends what this 1k roll means to you, if you need it/wont be able to re-deposit if you lose, then start on 1 dolla sit n go's or something, If you have a job/this is just spare money that you wouldnt mind spinning up some extra cash with, then 50NL should be fine.

No because if I had a 1k roll id have a job etc and wouldnt be worrying about the monies, so I wouldn't mind only having 20BI's for 50NL.

But if youre in the situation were you cannot lose then yes id start as low as possible and make sure im crushing each level/not showing worrying signs of tilt before moving up.

This is the correct advice i know, only think is you play all day and are up 5-10BI and that same night maybe go out to watch a movie and get something to eat and your back - 50 BI for the day, i just find low stakes so boring after playing much higher stakes previously, but i suppose that's why I'm a losing player.

Build your roll up slowly. NL50 is a great place to start with 1K roll. Maybe play NL100 when you reach 2K roll? Slow and steady wins the race.

Hi guys,

In the last few days i was giving a shot at heads-up by playing as low as possible - 4nl (0.02c-0.04c). I was break even after 2k hands. Obv the rake is brutal ~ 25bbs/100 so my noob question is:

If i break even at this rake level (25bbs/100) it means that in a hypothetical non rake game ill be winning at 25bbs/100 ?

Is it worth playing $50 HUNL at IPoker given the rake?

And how much rake do they take out of each pot at HUNL50

Which of the two sites Part Poker vs Titan Poker have more traffic and is one better than the other rake wise?

yes its worth playing 50nl. u can get rake info on their websites. id guess titan is better for low stakes. i asked some1 to post rake stats in here, but u can build a model based on the percentages/capped rake amt from their websites. i.e how many hands see a flop, of those how many get to the capped amt, and then the avg pot (rake amt) for non capped pots that also see a flop.

id also recommend searching this thread as many of the Qs u prob have, have been talked about before in here.

Hey guys, any euro sites offer HU tables at 20 - 40nl ??

If so, is the rake in these games ridiculous? beatable at all?

Thanks in advance

ipoker starts at .02/.04, .05/.10, .1/.2 and .25/.50 and they have euro pound and $ table so u can pretty much play for whatever.

we'll try to get some rake #s in from some1 who plays those games, if not we can have a thread about it since the Q keeps coming up in here.

i would recommend downloading some of the clients, then ptr-ing some of the regs sitting at those stakes and just see how theyre doing, and u can prob also see what rake their paying--i think ptr has that stat.

this was a person open sitting:

so hes paying about $1 every 100 hands or ~10bb/100.

heres another:

in the first one he played 8800 hands or 88 sets of 100 hands. he paid 461 in rake so 461/88= 5.25, and the bb is .5, so that 10bb every 100 hands.

10/20 example:

150 sets of 100hands, 4k/150= $26/100 or ~1bb/100.

keep in mind this is according to ptr.

also keep in mind u can get rakeback.

Pretty sick.. thanks for the advice.

So you've pretty much got destroy the game to make playing HU 50nl or below to even consider it viable for bank roll building... fwiw, I've broke even at stars over 60k hands at 50nl HU. But I was considering taking on a rakeback deal elsewhere and trying to bank roll build from 20nl ~ish , due to been pretty broke in real life at the minute.

Thanks again for that detailed response mate.

IPoker http://poker.williamhill.com/help/rake-limits-ipoker/

Party Poker http://www.partypoker.com/how-to-pla...structure.html

So both IPoker and Party Poker charge $0.01 for each $0.20 in the Pot with a Max Rake of $1 per pot

While Poker Stars cap it at 50 cents per pot

Are the games that much easier at IPoker and Party Poker for players to pay double the cap total?
****General Questions THREAD**** Quote

well its only relevant when you put enough money in past the cap of 50cents. so if they never go past the 50cents cap it's not relevant, which would be a benefit of building a rake model like i was suggesting before. most hands dont reach the cap, and furthermore even less of those reach the cap that is actually double. if you play a $100 pot then it would legitimately be double, but not for say a $15 pot. so i would guess the rake is probably something like 30-40% higher.

the rakeback deal you can get on ipoker is going to be better than the bonus style system both party and stars have. you can probably get a rb deal on ipoker in the 30-40% range. and the reward system on party and stars, unless you grind a ton and get to high reward status levels, are probably going to be in the 15-20% neighborhood. so all in all i think ipoker is slightly higher effective rake cost than stars. i would guess party is your worst choice, because it has same rake as ipoker without the traditional rb. people are also allowed to sit up to 18 empty tables forcing you to do the same if you want to compete for action. ipoker is capped at sitting 4 empty tables, and stars is 1 per stake.

where does the 30-40% rakeback on ipoker come from?

as far as i know you can get over 50% very easily and totally legit.

I've paid right around 12bb/100 in rake at Stars NL50. My Std Dev is only 125 for that period though, which is quite low because I donked around for 75k hands playing a break even nitbag style so the average rake paid should be higher as mine certainly is now. It is obviously still very beatable but when 25+bb/100 are being removed from the table you can quickly start running into problems vs players who are anywhere near your level of competence imo.

How do you get people to actually sit you (on pokerstars) or people to not just sit out. Seems like 95% of people just sit there to be cool but dont play. Also is there any etiquette towards joining a table? do you first ask?
