Is it ever too tight to be open-folding 30% of your buttons?

It shouldn't be too bad, but I think it is a bit on the tight side. I think playing around 80% is the sweet spot. This is assuming 75+ BB stacks. As stacks get lower you will usually want to tighten up.

I haven't heard this 80% number. I am more in the 85%-90% range if opponent doesn't 3-bet too often. I raise 100%.

It depends what sizing you chose.
With 3x you should actually open exactly around 70%.
2.5x would be around 80%, 2x around 90% as a readless strat.
And then you can adjust that a bit.

You reminded me of this great old school thread from HSNL, so thank you. Enjoy.

I remember that thread. Some solid stuff posted there. Opening 100% of hands can be great against some opponents. I've played against some opponent's that get mad and 3-bet all-in while way too deep.

Definitely open any suited, I think T3o and 94o is a fold though versus solid opposition. T4o is really close.
