I'm trying to get good at poker but I'm still a losing player. I hope it's ok to ask questions in here, because I think I'm going to have a lot. Also I'm asking in here as I mainly play heads up and would like to hear from other HU players.

Ok, so firstly- pre flop. How do you decide whether to min-raise, 2.5x or 3x? I usually min-raise but I don't know why. I tend to raise bigger if my opponent is calling a lot and lower if I'm getting 3-bet too often.

Also post-flop. I struggle to decide how much to bet. I float between 1/2 pot, 2/3 pot, 80% and full pot (with the occasional small value-bet or over bet if I feel the situation calls for it). But there's not a great deal of logic, I don't know why I'm betting these amounts a lot of the time. Can anyone shed some light on the thought processes they go through before deciding on what percentage of the pot they'll bet heads up?

Thanks

most simple rule for postflop: on boards that are harder to hit (like 992 rainbow) you should bet smaller, and on boards that are easier to connect with (like J89 with a flushdraw) you should bet bigger. However, it can get confusing, so as a beginner player you can just start off betting 2/3 pot on all structures, and start differing bet sizings as you get better.

Thanks for that. I've been putting that into practise. Do you have any links/info for rough percentages of calls/3bets villain makes to my raise amount?

For example if they are calling "a"% from BB and raising "b"% then I should raise "c" amount. Is there an equation i can use to work this out?
