Re: 5/10 live, 70bbs deepish, 3betting A5o
LOL results exactly as I predicted; 3bet and soul down to river.

Re: 5/10 live, 70bbs deepish, 3betting A5o
How is the 3bet sizing? Dhcg was suggesting hero 5x or 6x when 3betting here.

Re: 5/10 live, 70bbs deepish, 3betting A5o
6x is def too big, 3 is too small, 4.5 prolly optimal, maybe 4x.
I still think 3bis a leak but if villain calls alot Id go 5x, and if not that much prolly 3.5x/4x

Re: 5/10 live, 70bbs deepish, 3betting A5o
At those stacks any bigger than 3.5x is spew imo. You have less than 100bbs ffs. You know people 3bet 3x into 10x even at 100-150bbs right? Obv he's a station so we should adjust but I doubt that extra bb or 2 will change the way he plays playable hands and we actually want him to call more with hands that are annoying to play postflop (like K5 K7 type hands).
You don't get it DHCG, we're not 3betting strictly as a bluff OR value. If you make it 5x you're turning it into a complete bluff against someone who's a station, and that's bad. You're trying to put your opponent into high variance spots that he may become more transparent in.
Why on EARTH would you 3bet 4x 5x? Holy **** have you played any online cash before in your life? :x And at 70bbs deep too. SPR so bad.

Re: 5/10 live, 70bbs deepish, 3betting A5o
Need more reads/game dynamics to know. I think the three are closish, like calling's not bad if as said he's really transparent postflop.
I 3bet this spot fairly often with no rake and no hit and running. Any money he wins next hand means we play deeper the next hand with me being IP. npnpnpnpnpnp.
3betting to 5x seems horrible. You're actually making him play better by forcing him to fold his bad hands and only call with his better hands. Why would you want him to do that...? Also you make it so if he 4bets he wins more money. Wat. Why would you give him more free money for when he has AJ+ and so on?
You WANT him to call with his bad hands. There are spots where you 3bet A5o to get folds from a nit, but this is obviously not one of them. You're just basically 3betting ATC, but this ATC happens to be the best hand often and also often have an over if not an actual pair+, so you have more equity when barreling against his weak range, when not trying to go for showdown.

yeah but you have to add a caveat here about the player being good... if the player is bad or a tellbox live reads are super reliable

If he's that loose that you can peel A5o, 3betting's probably fine unless he like 100% never folds or something, then just wait for hand and print money. Flatting is not too bad but it's really not necessary with live rake.

Does this mean we are not defending A5o ~75bb deep vs 2.5x btn raise? If so, would it change at all if this is a husng?
