200NL - I don't have a clue about how to play 4bet pots

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $2(BB) Replayer
($411)
Hero ($265)

Dealt to Hero A 9

Hero raises to $6, raises to $22, Hero raises to $66, calls $44

FLOP ($132) 2 5 5

Villain checks, Hero ?

Villain is a crazy fish. He is 3betting 32% and his folds to 4bet is 0 times over 7. So basically, he 3bets a ton and doesn't fold when I 4bet so I can pwn him by 4betting much much lighter for value but ... I need to have a club about how to play those hands.

What's the plan with 199$ left ?
I like to bet small to induce something from worst hands.

But what's the plan if we are deeper ? Check to try to improve on the turn ? What's the plan if the turn is a blank and he leads for half pot ?

Last question, against someone like that. Can we "guess" his 5bet shoving range, I mean, can we increase our 4bet/call range just because he is 3betting so much ? It could be terrible to 4bet/call light when his 5bet range is tight or even "normal".
I'm asking this because my plan was to 4bet/call A9s but I'm not sure it's a good idea. It's hard to have an idea about his 5bet range, this doesn't happen v often ...

this deep i like calling more than 4 betting, ESP if you do not know how to play 4 bet pots ip when ure 150bb's deep, i def try to avoid it.

if he is not folding to four bets, are you doing it for value?

as played i probably bet like 69 or shove, idk which i like better if he's flatting 100% of his three betting range, which seems to be very wide.

the more i think the more i like 69

u put yourself in a weird spot where you had no idea what to do unless u hit hard, try to avoid putting yourself in awkward spots where you are unexperienced, just something i try to avoid.

Re: 200NL - I don't have a clue about how to play 4bet pots

I don't think a fish is going to spaz with worse against our cbet on this board in a 4bet pot like ever tbh. I'd rather check to induce something spazzy on the turn/river, I'm atleast calling one street if he bets. The fact that he's jaming any pp and at least calling with better aces makes it a pretty bad spot to bet/call imo.

I would have just called preflop, 4 betting A9s is too light and you might fold out alot of the weak Ax hands that you dominate, now just try and get to showdown. With AQ+ id just bet 60 and call it off.

generally don't 4bet w/ this hand because A9s is good to call vs a 3bet and bad to play a 4bet pot. ok, we have position vs a fish, but i still just call pf.

on flop i would cbet small and call vs his shove. if he c/c, give up on blank turn and river.

I prefer we polarize our 4betting range more towards air or value hands. This one is neither and is also good enough to defend with when villain is 3betting 32% of hands.

Re: 200NL - I don't have a clue about how to play 4bet pots

yeah i really don't think this hand should be in our 4betting range v. this type of villain. flat calling will be good cause he can have worse Ax/9x in his range and we're suited, etc.

as far as postflop goes, you're basically always good if you were good preflop, but without knowledge of how lightly villain will call the flop here, i think its best/standard to check back and evaluate.

another issue with 4betting this, as you mentioned, is we have no idea about his 5betting range, and we might be wrong folding if he ships.

Ok, thank you for all your detailed answers, I appreciate it.
I ended by bet/calling the flop and lost against 77.

Re: 200NL - I don't have a clue about how to play 4bet pots

I don't like the 4bet either but as played I am probably bet-calling. We are playing against the top 32% of his range post.

BTW this is assuming he is as crazy post as he is pre since you didn't mention anything like "he slows down a ton postflop".

A9 is a beauty for defending against his 32% 3-bet range. I love to see flops in position with that hand.
