First few hands of the match so no reads.. I like a lead on the flop because by checking, my hand gets face up and vulnerable to barrels.. once he calls the flop, I don't see him turning any hands that I beat into a bluff.. plus I'm OOP and just drawing to a non-nut flush with bad odds.. so is this a fold OTT?

x/c flop (you have the Bdfd, and won't be vulnerable to barrels so long as you don't cap you checking range too much), now x/c turn

I usually lead with the bdfd because it can take a flop raise better and I would rather x/c with pp above middle that benefit more relatively from pot control but its another case where my mind is wide open.

Turn looks like a pretty easy x/c with sdv + 2nd nfd although it gets more interesting if he starts betting closer to .75P+ imo.

Yes, QQ should much rather x/c flop than, say, 88. Well, actually... having the Bdfd may not be very important here. I'm not very concerned with facing a flop raise though.

So you lead out with 88 with or without bdfd? Makes sense to have some middling hands in our cbet range that gain value by folding live outs and can be called by worse. It just seems to me like the 2nd nfd, probably not much worse, would gain more than it would lose in the majority of big pots it finds itself in. Whereas QQ without a would lose more than it would gain when stacks go in or even threaten to on this board. That is fuzzy thinking but I can't take it further right now

Yeah guess a flop raise from IP is probably less likely than normal on this board.

x/c flop and call turn. Sucks if you tend to bet out your top pairs when you hit though, as your range becomes very capped when you x/c the flop so have that in mind

Why would we rather bet flop with 88 than QQ?

Good question. Forget the absolute value of the hands. Think about how various turn cards affect the equity of our hand vs a reasonable range.
