If you want to keep playing poker and even getting a check, get off your duff and join in.

The sites will bar US players if the very worst of the possibilities are realized.

The forces pushing the UIGEA really HATE us. They are motivated and determined, and could not care less about our rights.

They have other agendas in which they have no hope to prevail. Gambling and poker look like low hanging fruit to them. Quashing our right to play poker online would assuage their hateful empty souls and make them feel a little better.

Agreed, though I would like to see Mason at least encourage us, as players to do our part via whatever means we, as players, choose.

FYI Not new legislation. What is happening is that the Fed is moving to enact the legislation that was passed in '06 by drafting regulations for the financial institutions to follow.

Correction, this is a Treasury move and the Federal Reserve Board must agree, they have not, at least yet. That is why the FRB is the target.

I got a brief, but what appeared to be personal response acknowledging my comment left on the web site. One interesting thing they said was "As required by the Act, the Federal Reserve Board will consult with the Department of Justice before issuing the final rule."

re: Old Thread before regulations were approved by the Fed

My father in law is pretty politically active, so I had him call up.

He called the 202 number that was in the email. He spoke to some guy who said comments on UIGEA were closed and the guy on the phone directed my father in law to this website:

http://federalreserve.gov/generalinf...oposedRegs.cfm

and subsequently the comments section for UIGEA here:

http://federalreserve.gov/newsevents.../20071001a.htm

where it states the the comments closed in december 2007.

My father in law has no idea about internet poker, he was just calling to help us out. Obviously this is very confusing to people. It sounds like the guy on the phone is mis-informed, but also I didn't know what to tell my father in law.

Does anyone have any idea where the disconnect is? Let's figure this out so those who are reading this thread and calling later this afternoon will have a retort to correct this guy who is directing pro UIGEA callers to these websites.

Thanks!

The guy I spoke to also told me to call the DOJ but I don't know who I would speak to there and what difference it would make because they would probably just be looking at the regs from a legal (does it comply with the legislation) / enforceability standpoint. He also did not have anyone specific to call there. His response being the Attorney General and I don't see him taking my call anytime soon.

I think I read that they are trying to get it finished by November 19th. Can someone else confirm this?

Call this number in addition to the web form: 202-974-7008 it is the Fed Brd Comment line. It is automated and hopefully harder to ignore than email.
