The TEA Party (the true roots of it, not the pretenders trying to co-opt the movement) is founded on libertarian principles, primarily fiscal conservatism. It's "don't tread on me," which is nearly as opposite from "I want to push my morals on you" religious evangelical conservatism as it is from profligate progressive tax-and-spend fiscal liberalism (though they would say you're free to hold whatever religious or moral beliefs you want - just don't try to push those on others). The true libertarian and TEA Party stance is for the government to get the hell out of telling us we can't play poker.
