Re: NY attorney generals office shuts down e check processor??

Me thinks it's time for a class action lawsuit from the PPA.

First of all, the UIGEA regulations specifically exempt player withdrawals.

Secondly, no federal laws make online poker illegal to begin with.

It's time for a showdown. I call.

The above assumes that the G911 article is credible, which it of course may not be based on their history.

The article has since been corrected to indicate that it's the US Attorney's Office (in NY).

Wufwugy

PokerStars is sending emails out telling their players that one of their biggest processors had their bank account frozen. I don't really see how this could happen without some government interaction, especially when you consider that this processor is still cashing out checks that were drawn on their other bank accounts (which indicates that this wasn't a cut-and-run from the processor).

G911 is almost definitely not a very reputable source. But given the circumstances, if they are doing absolutely nothing except drawing their own conclusions, I think they're going to be right more often than not in this case (given the other information that we have in the above paragraph).

I agree that no action should be taken until we hear from some better sources though.

I dont see anything in the press section of the US Attorny's office in NY but it would not surprise me if they has something to do with it, will just have to wait and see.

I am a donating member of the ppa and id like to know what litigation if any will take place over this, assuming the story is true of course.

The reasons posted above are the ones im wondering about. What right do they have to do this?

Edit: didn't mean to quote dankness

g911 has been wrong about things far more often that it has been right. Of course, even the blind pig finds a truffle every now and then.

At this point I have no more information than any of the rest of you. However, the lack of a press release by authorities makes me wonder about this. A press release has accompanied every other "online gambling" related action brought by the DOJ.

As I learn more I will try and keep you guys informed.

This doesn't surprise me. The idiots at DOJ probably did this at the same time as the WSOP in order to get media coverage.

Re: NY attorney generals office shuts down e check processor??

I agree that G911 is not the most credible source. It sometimes jumps to conclusions to be the first to publish a story (hardly the only media to do so). However, if this story has any truth, then this is a direct attack on online poker by the DOJ. In such case, I, as a premium member for three year and a donor to its PAC, I would call upon the PPA to litigate the issue.

Of course, it could be financial difficulties by the payment processor.
