Re: New AG Eric Holder
I'm a little worried about him. He has close ties to the NFL, who paid him to draft their personal conduct policy and lead the Vick investigation ( Holder and the NFL). Close ties to one of our biggest enemies is a bad sign.

Re: New AG Eric Holder
A friend of Obama's, so maybe he has played poker with the new president? We can hope.
Cant find much on policy regarding the guy.
He was Number 2 under Janet Reno though - Reno's DOJ had very little interest in cultural issues prosecutions (they filed zero obscenity cases for example, something the Bushies were all up in arms about when they first got in).
Otherwise he has a first class reputation as a lawyer. Having someone in charge who actually understands the law will also help at the DOJ.

Re: New AG Eric Holder
Author of the Holder Memorandum, one of the most devious (and influential) law enforcement policies ever, the effect of which was to have corporations conduct internal investigations by tricking their employees into talking and then turning over the results to the government by waiving attorney-client privilege. Finally revoked as DOJ policy earlier this year after the Second Circuit dismissed the KPMG tax shelter case based on prosecutorial misconduct.
No idea about poker.

FWIW, acc to NYT, he is a poker player
From a 1997 NYT article about someone else:
"A longtime friend and fellow poker player, Eric H. Holder Jr., the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, said in an interview today:
''I think there might come a time in about 10 years when we're all sitting around the card table, casually smoking some good cigars, that he might lean back and regale us with some of the stuff he had to go through in this investigation. Or, maybe if he thinks there's some reason why he shouldn't do that even years later, he would simply never tell us.''
"Mr. Holder said he and Mr. Cole had enjoyed a fairly regular poker game with others in the office, a game that continues today among the same crowd, although less frequently "

Re: New AG Eric Holder
Eric Holder may as well be Barry Greenstein compared to Ashcroft or Gonzales. Don't know if he will help us out, but I don't really see him hurting us because it's not really part of his ideology.

Re: New AG Eric Holder
He's just another political hack lawyer who will go where the power/money leads him. Having the best lobbiests is the key to victory.

Oh yeah. Remember when Ashcroft tried to cover up the busts of the statues outside the justic dept.??? I mean that is who we had in power - - a guy who wanted to cover up the breasts on bronze statues outside the justice dept. Unreal.
You can also bet that this justice dept. will not be staffed with scores and scores of graduates from Pat Robertsons law school. I was shocked when I learned how many graduates from Pat Robertsons law school were in the Bush justice dept. Do a little google search on it and it's pretty wild.

So will all those Pat Robertson law school people be purged?
I don't get how anyone could be sexually aroused by those statues nor why anyone should care if anyone were.
Is Holder a good poker player? Obama reportedly is so Obama should know poker is a skill game. If Holder has no understanding of the game, his poker experience may be of limited value.
Are there any other appointments or nominations important to poker?

Re: New AG Eric Holder
This doesn't speak well for someone (Obama)who was elected on a promise of change. He (Holder) is just another political hack and his actions or lack of in all of Reno's fiascos and Clinton's pardon scandals make him suspect at best...
