Congress is in recess, so let's attend our senators' and representatives' townhall meetings. Townhalls are a great opportunity for us to meet with our Members of Congress to tell them that we want pro-poker legislation, so let's all try to do this.

Not all townhall meetings are widely advertised. To get the most up-to-date information, please take the time now to call your Member of Congress and ask that you be notified should any townhall meetings be scheduled.

I attended the Third Annual Jim & Mary Bunning Family Picnic today, where I spoke with former Sen. Jim Bunning, Sen. Rand Paul, Congressman Geoff Davis (my congressman), Senate President & Gov. Candidate David Williams, Ag. Sec. & Lt. Gov. Candidate Richie Farmer, Attorney General Candidate Todd P'Pool, Auditor Candidate John Kemper, Treasurer Candidate K.C. Crosbie, Sec. of State Candidate Bill Johnson, Ag. Sec. Candidate Jamie Comer, and State Rep. Adam Koenig (my state rep).

I actually had a chance to speak with them a bit, rather than just a quick handshake. Jim Bunning was kind enough to give me an autographed picture (of him pitching...not of him signing legislation or speaking on the Hill ). It was a productive Saturday afternoon, to say the least.

I met with my congressman, Rich Nugent, earlier this month at a town hall meeting. I was able to speak with him face to face about the issue, and found that he really had no clue about all of this. He asked me to email him with more info on the poker shutdown and pending legislation, which I did. I have not heard back from him, but I'm sure that he is at least aware of the issue now. Will report back when/if I get a response.
