Re: KY Law Enforced

Here was their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for your email. Due to recent events in the Commonwealth of Kentucky we will no longer be accepting any players from the state of Kentucky. I can confirm this applys for all players from Kentucky. Any funds in your account will be cashed out, any RakeBack due has been paid into your account as well as the value of any outstanding tournament tickets. We will now cashout your funds or you may transfer them to a non Kentucky account if you so wish. Thank for your custom at CakePoker and best of luck for the future.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Kind Regards,

Mark

Re: KY Law Enforced

I received this from PokerStars this morning:

Quote:
Hello Jeffrey,

Thank you for your email.

We are currently analyzing the situation and rules regarding UIGEA.

While we cannot provide a statement on the situation at this point in
time, we would like to reassure you that all funds held with PokerStars
are completely secure. Player deposits are held in a separate bank account
so that they remain completely isolated from all other aspects of the
business.

In regards to the Kentucky case, as this case is ongoing, we are limited
in what we can say. All we can do at this point is confirm our belief that
PokerStars is not breaching any laws in providing our service to residents
of Kentucky. We cannot comment on the reasons other sites have taken a
particular action. As there is ongoing legal action in this case, we
cannot discuss this any further at this time.

If there is anything else we can help you with in the meantime, please do
not hesitate to contact us again.

Regards,

AaronA

It's my guess that you will be safe with Stars or Tilt. They appear to be able to cover their own a**es by the steps they take. I sent Stars a letter because I live in Michigan and we are one of the states that was on Doyles Rooms' list of "bad states".

There was and probably still is the thread that discussed "domain name seizures" and it sounds like this is a big no-no for a state to try and do. PokerStars and Tilt are operated off shore and cannot be touched as far as I understand.

I was a little worried yesterday but after reading up a bit I feel like the only real threat is the original UIGEA problem that we have. I'm not sure why Cake would block you and why other sites aren't taking US players, unless it's just because their names are registered in the US. I don't see what they have to lose if they take Americans.

But FWIW your probably safe with Stars or Tilt.

Clearly, you have not played much poker in the Deep South (which KY is not a part of, BTW.)

Poker was invented in the deep south and there are more poker hustlers in the deep south per capita than any other area in the world. As opposed to any other area of the country, poker is actually part of the deep south's culture.

Granted most of these players are playing in live games, the ones that move to the internet are the ones taking your money. Its a game played from childhood on.
