ePassporte reportedly pulls plug on US players

Apparently, epassporte has pulled the plug on US poker players, effective 1:00 pm PDT this afternoon.

They figured out that poker was being played by their customers.

Unfortunately, the information is accurate ... as time will show.

The source was not a media outlet.

When this happened to Neteller, were people able to easily withdraw money they had on there?

You're kidding, right?

(The answer is no. Many players had to wait a LONG time to get their funds.)

No. All accounts were frozen for a very very extended period (well over 6 months).

Oh balls. Figures I just withdrew $500 to it today.

(I didn't know; it happened during a sabbatical from poker)

Hmm considering trying to cashout immediately just in case. Pointless?

If this is true, could this be under pressure from the DOJ? If so, it could be the first "pure" attempt at shutting online poker down for U.S. players, as eP has only offered service for online poker and not casinos or sportsbetting.

E-Mailed Pokerstars, fwiw here's their reply:

Hello Joseph,

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience, ePassporte
seems to be undergoing some technical issues and is currently not
available.

We do not have any estimated time for ePassporte to be available again,
although we can recommend our Instant eChecks option as an alternative
means of funding your PokerStars account.

Remember that for deposit assistance, you can feel free to send us your
telephone number and the best time to reach you at dad@pokerstars.com and
we will gladly get back to you.

Thank you for choosing PokerStars, we hope to see you at our tables soon.

Regards,

Robert
