another processor goes down, in houston, tx
Was at the gym today and there is a guy I know who runs a processing company. He's more buddies with my friend and I never really tried to get involved or ask him questions about what he did. Well my friend came up to me and told me the guy got busted today. I went and talked to the processor guy and he told me when he got to work there were like 50 secret service agents waiting for him. Said they seized 9 million in bank accounts and some laptops. I asked what kind of processing he did and he said online gambling and online poker. Absolute was one of them. I asked if he handled ftp and stars and he said no, he wouldn't touch them because they were "too hot." He wasn't really sure what was going to happen to him personally and they obv didn't arrest him on the spot if he was at the gym.
Anyway, nothing new in our lovely world of online poker here in the USA.

So now I get it, the DOJ is backing off, but the SS is stepping it up. Knew there was a catch.

Is it better or worse for us that the Department of Homeland Security (SS) is involved instead of the DOJ/F.B.I

I'd say the chances are very very slim. He knew who he was talking to. He is the guy who ran the business, not some random pee on employee. Said when he got to work they were waiting for him and when he walked in his office they said, Mr. x, we need to talk, please take a seat. Fwiw, he said they were very nice and professional about it other than seizing money etc.

Re: another processor goes down, in houston, tx
I've said this before, but the federal government has a lot of power over banks, and most of that power isn't judicial in nature-- it exists in agencies like the Federal Reserve system and the Treasury Department and the Secret Service. And if it wishes to, it can use that power to make it very, very difficult for online poker sites to do any business through the banking system. So far, the government has used some of that power, but far from all of it.
And this is a big reason we need a poker bill.

Well, crap. Sounds like this was eCheckUS. Their site is down, and their domain is registered in Houston

Damn, just as i thought i'd found an alternative to WU, SS comes and foils me again! WTG US.Gov! Safegaurding US personal ibterests by seizing the big bad Euro $$, one check processor at a time! Way to spend those taxes well, US Admin. Policy is really getting to the point of needlessly encroaching on people's liberties IMO. If only I were employed by the .Gov with nothing other to do, but to look for poker affiliated payment processors to take down and earn a hefty salary, I'd be soooooooo happy.
EchecksUS... Another one bites the dust... R.I.P.

I still haven't figured out how our government became so dumb on this issue. Oh well, I guess I have to continue my search for an alternative.

Re: another processor goes down, in houston, tx
FWIW I had a tiny bit of money left on my eCheckUS debit card and was just able to go to the ATM and withdraw. I think another company handles their debit card stuff so that's probably while their website is still up and I was able to withdraw. But if anyone else has the same situation, I suggest moving quickly.
