EU Plans Illegal Online Gambling Crackdown, Rules on Legal Sites

Quote:
The European Commission, the 27-nation EU’s executive arm, will also propose measures to “effectively regulate and supervise” legal gaming sites, Barnier said. The action plan will be published “in the autumn,” he said.

"As Nevada gaming lobbyists diligently lay the groundwork for what might be a final end-of-the-year push for federal legislation legalizing online poker, perhaps the biggest wild card is a man who has vowed to spend as much as $100 million influencing this year’s election."

"Proponents of the measure think it’s possible Adelson could be won over using the same argument that apparently persuaded Kyl to drop his opposition: One, that online poker is happening now with little enforcement and no oversight; and two, that the Justice Department has opened a Pandora’s box of states that want in on the action."

I've not read much about this, but if player pools are combined again, it would be pretty hard for this push to work out poorly for players, imo.

888 Signs Strategic US Online Poker Agreement with WMS

"...WMS will market and distribute 888's world-class online poker solution to land-based casino customers in venues in the United States, initially with a play-for-fun offering.
