Also, if you could give a quick summary of where things stand at this moment. As best I can tell it appears that South Point is projected to have a site up by the end of 2012 and that is the only specific site I have heard about. Who do you think will be #2, #3, #4, etc. and when do you anticipate those sites going live (also if you had to guess how many licenses (sites) will there be in total in the next 18 months?)

+1 to these questions. I'm so shocked this thread isn't exploding with posts everyday - but I guess there just isn't much news? How many land based casinos with get licenses? Will things be in full swing by the end of the year? Any and all information is appreciated.

Re: Whats going on with Nevada online gaming?
Everything that is publicly known is already in this thread. It's just a matter of waiting now to see the results as they come to pass.
In general, right now it looks like SouthPoint will have their live site running sometime by the end of the year. Other sites will likely take a few months longer as they are not building their own systems from scratch, so the offshore service providers and technologies have to be vetted before they are granted licensing and approval, plus they have to build physical plants in Nevada sometime along the way.

Funny, I read the underlined point 180 degrees differently..... (but you may be absolutely right anyway, it is a political process.)
The difference I see is that a time-tested software should pass approval/testing muster more easily, and operators like Stations have gone the route of purchase for that reason.
Secondly, don't forget that a number of software products have already been vetted by the same comnpanies who will be doing the vetting for Nevada.
Third, building software from scratch that works is way more difficult that folks think.
Finally, the approval pipeline is not entered until the software is actually ready to test. I read the statements from SoutPpoint with a grain of salt, it nowhere says they are already in the pipeline, if I recall.

I'm thinking more along the lines of how much extra time it will take to vet all the principles and personnel involved in the offshore service provider companies - background checks, corporate ties, etc. I imagine Caesars has a step up on the other casinos, since their partner 888.com was already vetted by NV for their joint venture with Caesars in the UK.

I'm not going to go back and look, but I feel like south point said they were already being tested, thus the reason they think they'll go online soon.

Anyone get one of these emails from Golden Nugget:
current prizes for their tourneys:

It could be really incredible for them profit wise if they can find a way to get people to gamble the winnings from tournaments by putting the amounts in the sweet spot of a vacation.
In that way they can collect rake on the tournament itself and then get a shot at getting a piece of the prizes in the tournaments too. Regardless it will be especially good for Las Vegas as a whole because they can almost assure 100 percent occupancy on their hotel rooms and get people in the town at will from all over the country. Even if they break even on those particular incentives they provide like hotel rooms they can almost assure that the total prize won in a tournament will almost entirely be spent somewhere in Las Vegas.

I was reading the T&C's on the golden nugget promos. Certain state's residents are excluded from receiving these prizes. Can someone comment on why this may be?

Their current free-play site operates as a sweepstakes, similar to ClubWPT. Some states have laws that prohibit sweepstakes, hence the site can't award prizes to their residents.

Re: Whats going on with Nevada online gaming?
Not surprisingly but still worthy of note, the ring fence around Nevada is highly accurate. I tested the accessibility of Cantor's sports book( http://www.cantorgaming.com) only 0.3 miles outside of Nevada (Bullhead City, AZ) and no joy.

Re: Whats going on with Nevada online gaming?
I just read that article and I need help understanding almost all of it.
"Nevada Gaming Commission has received the following applications to date, by category:
11 Operators
17 Manufacturers
24 Service Providers"
Are service providers essentially skins on a bigger network? What's the difference between an operator and a manufacturer?
What I don't understand is if they are only going to be offering online poker intrastate then why wouldn't they just make it one big network and have the casinos make their own skins?
"Three of the 32 corporate entities have also applied in a fourth category, Manufacturer of Associated Equipment. Those three are Aristocrat Technologies, WMS Industries, Inc. and SG Gaming Inc.
Aristocrat and WMS are widely known slot-machine manufacturers expected to provide equipment in support of the future poker sites, while SG Gaming is a division of Scientific Games, a noted maker of lottery-ticket kiosks."
To me this sounds like these companies are planning on making kiosks where you can play online poker (maybe even in the pit next to video poker) so that tourists can play in the casino environment instead of only having the option of playing in the hotel room....
This prospect makes me salivate and think that the, perhaps slightly distant, future of online poker could be much, much better than the past ever was. Is anyone else making that same read or am I way off?
