I signed, but I'm afraid these guys are right... very funny, and yet... so sad.

A new petition with realistic expectations

Sorry for what is no doubt a horrendous bump...

But, as an eternal optimist, should I take it that the reason the petition for the ethical treatment of wild burros has received a response from the white house before the poker petition has is because the white house knows that the senate majority leader plans to introduce poker legislation very soon and doesn't want to step on any toes?

Or is it just that no one could care less?

You're a bit more optimistic than me as I thought they were waiting until after the two hearings last week to craft a politically safe response. If they are indeed waiting until a secret bill is released, that would simply be fantastic.

It is strange though that there was maybe a 1-2 week lag where they only had 10 total responses posted. Now they have 19. And ours hasn't been answered. I think we were around the 15th or 20th petition to reach the required signature quota too.

Yep. I'm optimistic. The administration must be waiting for a reason since it is taking so long. Otherwise, we would have had an answer by now. The E.T. people got an answer a month ago.

Has anybody bothered to compare the batch of polls that finished before or at the time we did versus the number that have received a response? If they're only picking polls they can easily softball then that's one thing, if every other poll has received an answer - that's another.

There must be a reason. It may be good or bad for us. IMHO G/B = 47/53.

It seems like an easy one. Obama is not going to gain or lose many votes among the religious right because of this issue. However possible gains or loses among poker player could mean a close state, say Pa. or Fl. But no reply. Looks to me like they are trying to minimize their lost by not openly opposing us. But that is just a guess that fits the facts.

I signed several (6 or 7, full range of topics) of the first batch of petitions so I would get emails when they were answered. All of them have been answered. They were all created about the same time as ours.
