Thumbs up Twin River Cardroom? (RI)

Anyone else think this would be a good idea? If they opened a card room, they could intercept all the FW/MS players traveling from RI and Mass who can no longer play online.

Wishful thinking.

I used to live in North Providence.
The trouble with opening a card room is that there isn't enough extra money in the drop for all the corrupt RI Democrat politicians to steal. They would need to steal way more than five bucks a hand.

And that is why it's a bad idea.

Re: Twin River Cardroom? (RI)

I know I am bringing up a year old thread here.

But there is a ballot measure this November to allow table games at twin River Casino in Rhode Island. I am wondering what peoples thoughts on this are.

Currently they only have slots, video BJ, simulcast book, and they used to have dog racing.

It's an absolute hole, but it might be nice if there is Poker! MA and RI residents would not have to drive to CT!

According to the poll in this article it has a 65% chance of passing:

I wouldn't play there. I mean, Providence and Foxwoods/MS are the same distance away from where I live north of Boston. I only care about Suffolk Downs or Rockingham Park becoming casino's/real card rooms(none of that charity bs).

I live about 15 minutes from Twin River and would definitely give it a shot even though I hate that place. Driving 50 mins to Foxwoods is a drag. Not sure what the poker traffic would be. *Fingers crossed* I hope they get table games.

Re: Twin River Cardroom? (RI)

Yeah I also live 15 mins away. ( In Providence )

So this particularly interests me. I'm having trouble confirming through source if there will in fact be Poker. Because the bill allows any and all table games, Twin River might see the bill passed only to decide Poker is not worth it. ( meaning they would just add roulette and blackjack types of table games )

But if and when they do add Poker at Twin River, I would absolutely be there front and center. I'll give it a try!

I HATE driving so far to MS or FW. Plus I hate seeing tax revenue go there instead of my tiny state.

Rhode Island is pretty cool. We got our own flag and everything.

Looks like its getting passed..... 72% said yes. I live 10 minutes away and will definitely take going there over Foxwoods/Mohegan.

Can't confirm anywhere where it's said to include poker. I found two articles that said Newport grand was up for including table games "like blackjack and poker", but it got turned down because the measure has to win in the area it concerns. Neither article mentioned "poker" and Twin River in the same sentence. I'm optimistic but won't believe Twin River is getting poker until I actually see it in print.

I also live about 15 minutes from Twin River and am hoping poker will be up and running there soon. I have only been there once but don't remember it being a "hole". It was quite nice for a slot parlor. I don't really play slots which is why I was only there once. But if poker comes to town, I will be there much more often.

Both racinos had the same ballot question. The locals just voted it in at Twin Rivers and out at Newport Grand. From reading the ballot info poker looked to be included and if you saw it mentioned with Newport they were the exact same question. The locals just had the last say on expansion and one voted yes and the other voted no.

Yep. I'm about 99% sure poker is included in the expansion at Twin River.

Does anyone know how long this will take to implement? Do you guy think they will have this in place by the end of 2013?

EDIT: Nevermind... found this from an article:

"Lincoln voters enthusiastically supported the Twin River referendum. Officials say the facility could begin offering poker and blackjack as soon as next summer."

We'll see how realistic that is.

Re: Twin River Cardroom? (RI)

I just read that Twin River hopes to be up and running with table games by July 1st. Unfortunately they don't think poker will be included. They are not sure the market can support it.

Is there anything we can do to try to influence the inclusion of poker?
