Notice that only I and some else "like" Jason's comment and it includes the word poker. But the post above and below have 25+ "likes" they don't contain the word poker. The reason for this is only Jason's FB friends could see this yesterday. But now since the filter has been remove we all can see it.

Fight for Poker Rights: Weekend of May 21st
  • The Fly-In is in just a few days. With the weekend here and no one in offices for us to call, let's use this time to own some Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.):
    • Let's continue to own the House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page (here)
    • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
    • Senators' FB pages: Senator Facebook Listing
    • For all of these, let's:
      • Post the fact that you have a meetings scheduled with your Congressman (no need to post his/her name if you prefer not to).
      • Mention that you are proud to live in a country where we the right to petition government for redress of grievances is protected by the First Amendment.
      • Lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments will help this effort as well.
Thanks!

We're only getting a couple dozen "likes" on all the facebook comments. Shouldn't we be getting a lot more than this? How can we get more people to do this stuff? I had at least 3 people who don't even play poker post comments and like other's comments. The PPA is supposed to have hundreds of thousands of members. Where is everyone???

I'm there, but perhaps add a section for this daily stuff on the PPA website (under "Take Action" just have "Daily Tasks" or w/e). Rich might also want to send a daily message out to your twitter followers.

TE,

Should we also give http://www.facebook.com/DOJ some love too? We should keep pounding the DOJ as well.

Yes. It is looking sparse on the poker comments as of late.

Hopefully this Andrew Lasswell character doesn't chime in any more on our support for Rep. Barton. I say don't encourage him. What a douche bag.

Will be very curious how many meetings you guys were able to set up with hill staff. As someone who does that for a living, I know how hard it can be. Will you be releasing the amount of people you guys/poker players met with today? Hope it's all going well.

Thank you ppa for all you're doing to protect the game. Sounds like it was a positive day for the push to get ipoker regulated. I think it's great that we're picking up bipartisan support, but there's alot of new people in congress. Does the PPA have a list of the new congress and their favor or disfavorable ratings towards regulation of online poker?

Ron Paul actually informed me of this. I left a comment on his page to the nature of "Thanks for supporting online poker! You are awesome and I will vote for you when you run for President." He replied and thanked me but told me that he has to remove the post because the rules say that he can't have discussions of elections or voting on his Facebook page.

I take that to mean that there is some rulebook or guideline that Congresscritters must follow regarding social media. Keep that in mind when leaving comments.
