Starting in January I am going to start leading a campaign just like this where everyone can do something everyday positive to help out. For now I am getting the holiday season behind us and then it will be full steam ahead.

Pardon? How is my credibility down the drain with that statement? I assume you mean constitutional amendment. The governor has no say in it.

You guys keep beating your head against the wall. Perry will never sign a bill. Facts are facts.

You don't win a war blindly charging into gunfire. It doesn't prove a thing except stupidity.

But I have to keep it real and not trying to be rude when I say your credibility rating goes down pretty far with that statement.

Proposed constitutional amendments that would allow casinos have been filed by Rep. Carol Alvarado, D-Houston, and Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston:

By: Alvarado H.J.R. No. 47 [legis.state.tx.us]

By: Ellis S.J.R. No. 6 [legis.state.tx.us]

Legalizing Casino gaming has a much better chance b/c it requires a constitutional amendment bypassing the governor's desk completely. The notion the most social conservative governor in the US will sign a poker legalization bill is just not accepting reality for what it is.
Sen. Kyl's name is on a poker licensing bill. Did you see that as impossible just a few years ago?

That was a nothing but a tradeoff. Kyle wants all gambling banned, but would take banning all except poker than none at all.

In Texas nothing except the lottery is legal. There is no leverage on Rick Perry.

Do you think Rick Perry would want to wake some trade offs with the Texas Speaker of the House? The Speaker who's family happens to owns a race track. But also you have made 2 post in this thread since you said you where leaving.

That's exactly what I said. Kyl was willing to sign a gaming bill that licensed poker in exchange for other stuff he wanted.

I'm not claiming we'll ever get Perry to sign onto a poker bill, but I do know there is every reason to try.

So every time I go to the dog track I'm breaking a law? How anbout the ponies? Is that also illegal? I just want to be clear about how my state regulates gaming.

I highly doubt Dick Perry will do anything to expand gambling in Texas. He is a puppet for the religious right.

Re: Texas Poker Bill (HB 292) - Brick & Mortar only

I spoke with a very active member of the Clear Lake Tea Party yesterday, who advised me to sign up on their website, so that I could make them aware of the Bill, and do my part to see it pass. If any of you would like to join with me in doing so, you can sign up for free at

clearlaketeaparty.com

Sign up is free, and thus far, I'm not getting any crazy emails or anything like that.
