How to Optimize This Thread For All Keywords for the Search Engines
Some posters on here have commented on how this thread should have been optimized for this or that keyword or keyword phrase. The thing is I have only so much power to optimize it for keywords while at the same time making the content of the thread relevant and readable. The rest of the power my dear friends is up to all of us on here. So I am going to give you a quick SEO 101 that most people would pay someone else dearly for.
First off, think of the search engines like Google as one big collective mind that knows every word on the internet. It knows every website, article, and page by heart. Whenever someone googles a certain keyword or phrase, these search engines assess what exactly this person wants to find, and then provides it with millions of choice, the most relevant being in the first few pages. These search engines look for articles, websites, forum threads etc. and assess which of these provides the richest content for the searcher. This is why many times you will google a keyword phrase and you’ll see a search result with a blurb of content beneath it that falls right in mid sentence with your searched keywords bolded. Think of one of these blurbs as one of your post in mid sentence where you were discussing a topic they happened to be looking for. The more this topic is discussed in the thread using relevant keywords you feel would be good for optimization, the higher this thread will go up for those keywords. Google has assessed this thread is what the person was looking for because the thread stayed consistently on that same topic of discussion with those keywords being used. Bold your keywords but not everytime.
****Do not spam your post with keywords**** This could not only have the opposite affect, but what if you saw a search result with the same keyword 10 times in a row? Would you click it? Probably not.
Other things to help it move up in the engines. Linking from other sites that are relevant to our topic. In this case it would be political and poker sites. It does no good linking back from a pets forum and will only confuse Google. The bigger the site, the more weight Google puts on it. Linking from topically correct sites and subject topics like Answers.com and Yahoo Q&A will work well also. Blogs, articles, press releases, media outlets all work very well (extra points for .edu's, .gov's <<<yeah right in this case, and big media outlets like FOX, CNN etc.)
When you link to this thread make sure you link to different pages within the thread that are relevant to the topic you are linking it because of. If all you do is link to the OP, Google will assume the rest of the thread doesn’t have much to offer and will have less weight in the search engines.
Do not link back to the sites you linked from. “Hey guys I just dropped a link at this site
http://dffggrr.fsdg/ffer.com” . Google will count this as a reciprocal link and give it less value. Your linking only from other sites it will say “Hey people are linking from a site that has to do with poker or politics. They must like the relevant subject matter.” Use a combination of the actual URL and hyperlink worded URL’s that are a keyword we are optimizing the thread for.
Link from our thread to news articles on politicians and topic matter relevant to the thread. This will further help Google assess that our thread is worthy of moving up because we are linking to news articles relevant to the topic. You'll notic I did just that in my OP hyperlinks.
This thread is like a tree. Water it and nurture it and soon it will become self sufficient.
