According to Boston.com they're revisiting this part of the bill today. It would then go to another vote (shouldn't have resistence) and then go to be signed. Inspiring stuff!

All proposed sites are along or south of the Pike, which is very annoying.

3-5 years is what I'm reading.

Edit: House just voted on and passed an amendment to the bill which cut the horse racing money in half. Waiting on the senate now.

Mass. lawmakers approve casino gambling, bill on its way to the governor’s desk

Quote:
The bill, approved in both chambers just before 5 p.m., passed the House in 124-30 vote and the Senate by a voice vote.

The final plan scaled back a last-minute proposal to increase payments to the horse-racing industry.

i know a huge concern is that they build these, then people keep going to FW and MS anyway. Seems like it would make way more sense to put at least one farther away from these locations, and try to attract NH/VT/ME gamblers as well.

Re: New MA casino bill

Has anyone saw anything about online poker?

I know an amendment was on the house's version and I know it wasn't on the senate's version but did it make it on the compromised one?

Do we have any idea when the final bill will be made public?

If I heard right he has 10 days to sign it. Hopefully he doesn't wait that long.

There is supposed to by one in Boston area/North one West, and one on the South Shore along with a slot parlor anywhere. I believe the Native Americans have right of first refusal for the South casino. Talk has been New Bedford or Fall River for this. Talk for the Boston has been Suffolk Downs and West location Palmer, Holyoke (Mohegan Sun), and Springfield (Ameristar Casino). We'll see. I'm just psyched I won't have to drive 2 hours each way anymore. ~Mygtar

Re: New MA casino bill

Correction to my post above:

The people interested in the West are Mohegan Sun for location in Palmer, Hard Rock International for Holyoke and Ameristar Casino for Springfield. ~Mygtar
