There is hope, just think on the right timeline. Its 5-10 years, not 1-2 years.

Re: New MA casino bill

Well I really hope we get a casino bill thru. How I would love to drive a half hour to Revere and play at Suffolk Downs Casino. However if they fail to allow for residents to deduct losses OR they opt out of federal I poker legislation I'm gonna get a NH address.

I have thought about how one would go about this. I live 5 minutes from the border of freedom

You mean what to do if every state but Nevada opts out?

Would be somewhat reassuring if the PPA got a rep in MA in time to have a say on how this is going down. Any estimates on the timeline on this?

Lobbying Gambling in Mass
http://www.citizenlink.com/2011/08/2...bling-in-mass/

by Chad Hills

The ground on Beacon Hill, where the State Capitol of Massachusetts resides, has been worn thin from the polished, black shoes of the tenacious gambling lobby. East Coast casino real estate has become intensely competitive, due largely to the fact that Pennsylvania has become the new Nevada on steroids. The declining gambling cartel in eastern U.S. is left scrambling for scraps.....

Re: New MA casino bill

im from massachusetts so my interest in this topic is peaked. i dont know politics/laws AT ALL so i apologize if i sound dumb. i read everything here. so basically its not about online poker being legal or illegal, its all about the states best interest/money? and its the same with other laws and states doing things in their best interest? if so, its sad really. although im a poker player, im trying my best to view this in a non-biased point of view. im kind of ranting right now. we say land of the free but we do things state by state. i dont see how were anymore "free" than say canada, france, netherlands, etc etc etc...once again im sorry if i sound dumb as i dont know anything when it comes to this but that's how i'm viewing it right now. it really makes me sick that we are doing things in terms of economics rather than right or wrong (if i read everything correctly that is). never thought poker would be the topic that changes my view of the government, but...

Yeah, it's actually pretty ironic how much poker has taught me about our political system.

Havent they been talking about casinos in MA for years? What makes anyone think this will actually pass now?

The speaker of the House, president of the Senate, and governor have, for the first time, agreed on the major principles of a bill.

Rep. Winslow to file plan to allow Internet poker

Harry Reid/DOJ/Vegas better figure their stuff out before a state creates legal online poker. MA wants to offer it's service to everyone.

Plus, Winslow said, "the potential (for participation) wouldn't be limited to the four corners of the Commonwealth. People world over could participate in Massachusetts Internet poker."
