Re: New MA casino bill

Timetable from the mass.gov/gaming site:

"The Massachusetts Gaming Commission was established in March 2012. One might reasonably expect that RFPs for both the slots facility and the resort casinos will be released in 2013. Once the RFPs are released, applicants will need three-six months to respond. Once proposals are received, the Commission will take three-six months to evaluate them. Assuming one or more applicants are licensed, the Commonwealth should be able to enjoy fully operating resort casinos within three-five years of the creation of the Commission."

Tack on about 2 more years for the delays in construction the construction workers create in order to justify getting paid more.

Re: New MA casino bill

I have a bunch of meetings that day at work, but If i can get out early I will definitely try to make it. This is definitely a forum where poker players need rep.

I have been to all 3 public meetings so far and will be there on the 3rd as well. Anyone interested in watching the meetings live online can view them at http://www.mass.gov/gaming/meetings/

I find this stuff to be so interesting!

Re: New MA casino bill

I watched the web stream on the 3rd. Nothing too interesting. Was hoping the guy from the AGA woulda spoke a little bit about e-gaming.

In other news a few days ago Kraft/Wynn pulled the plug on trying to get anything going in Foxboro = ). Was happy when I read that news. Looks like Suffolk Downs is one step closer to becoming a casino.

One thing that seems to be consistent with all of these meetings is that they are very far away in MA from really understanding the future of online gaming. They bring it up briefly every meeting.

Something that would be helpful. Does anyone have any statistics on how online gaming and online poker specifically affect B&M casino business? The MA Gaming Commission is looking for these insights.

They are also looking for insights from the public on the following topics:

- Insights into the best way to arrange the 3 casinos and the slots parlor in the predetermined regions. These insights should be based on actual economic impact statistics.

- Creative ways to create additional jobs with the addition of new casinos.

- What percentage of casino profits comes from "problem gamblers?" What percentage of casino profits comes from people whose gambling negatively affects their own lives, regardless of whether or not they are technically problem gamblers? What percentage of casino profits comes from casino employee gambling? Other stuff along those lines. They would rather have the study and reports than the numbers alone.

If I remember more, I will post it. The forum outage made it tougher to remember!

Re: New MA casino bill

Caesars has an agreement with Suffolk Downs to manage a potential casino there.

The unveiling of plans one would presume is showing the public what their bid will look like.

(There's also the fact that they're practically locked in to get the Boston-area bid, note all the other major companies, except for Wynn, focusing on the Western Massachusetts bid)

I thought Wynn dropped out, or did he just drop out of the Foxborough location?
