Re: The Latest Shoe to Drop: LV Sands Money Laundering Probe

In practical terms, how is this a positive for online poker as OP suggested?

Other than weakening Adelson's political influence, had this not occurred at a US regulated casino, the government would not have been aware that there was an issue to investigate, which could be viewed as a positive for those pushing for US regulation - while to the LirvA's of the movement might view it as a negative.

I also am sure that there are no hookers working at the Venetian either:

even though Tao Nightclub's billboard slogan is, "Always a Happy Ending".

My opinion. People don't like to deal with dirty businesses, even if the CEO is not implicated. PPA donations after Black Friday as a recent example. I think it might have an impact with donations but we will see....

Re: The Latest Shoe to Drop: LV Sands Money Laundering Probe

This story will have zero effect on the passage or not of poker legislation federally, in 2012 or later.

"People involved with the probe say the investigation began last year, and a decision on whether to charge Sands or any of its executives may not come for several months, perhaps after the November presidential elections, they said.

While the activities of several company executives are being examined, no one has yet been identified as a target for possible prosecution, people familiar with the matter said."

It will not see meaningful development prior to the end of the "legislative year" and, I predict, it will not be tied to Mr. Adelson in any way.

I don't think this has anything to do with online poker or any likely impact on it long term.

But anything against Adelson is a positive mark in my book. Was happy when I saw this headline the other day.

This has nothing to do with Adelson either.

It doesn't matter Because he's going to get a slap on the wrist anyway or plead ignorance an blame it on someone in his management team.

the truth is, sheldon personally laid out these plans and more to all the leaders of the macau gangs at a grand dinner in the ballroom of the secret presidential suite, 50 feet below his newly-built venetian macao. i was there, crouching behind some barrels. in between all the amazingly revealing things i was overhearing, i wondered why they wouldn't all put their billions together and lobby to open worldwide+china macau-based sites. but i knew enough to not ask them, cause then they'd notice me and be all, 'hey! who are you?!'

anyway i don't wanna get into all of it, and it sucks cause i can't legally say that the scene from batman: the dark night where batman kidnaps the dude out of the highrise in hong kong by blowing the side of the building apart and then escaping seconds later by airlift is exactly what happened to me, but i will say that a lot of good men got beat up by batman that day.
Hey watch me make this chopstick disappear.
