I'm interested in starting a poker site, and I need some advice

It's been a dream on mine to own a independent poker site for a long time, and I finally decided to follow that dream.

I started to research some online gambling licenses, but I can't decide which license would be best for my poker company. It's really starting to confuse me, so I am hoping to get some help/guidance to help me pick a gambling license. I'll be raising the funds myself, and I am not very wealthy, but I am confident I can raise the funds for the license through a fundraiser site like ******* after I've made some sort of a investment into this site myself.

My budget is very minimal, and right now I am just trying to figure out how much capital I will need to run a independent poker site. I have been looking for a license with a low start up fee, and a affordable annual fee because that would be less money that I would have to raise, but I haven't found one yet. What gambling licenses do you recommend?

I would start out by running a casino out of your basement. If that goes well then try the online thing.

Why do you think you can raise money for a license like that ? (If you are in the US, there might be certain practical problems with that approach.)

To be honest, you do not sound up to the challenge of actually operating a poker site, your best route with limited capital is to try your hand at affiliate marketing. Your second best route is to acquire a skin on an existing network, let them worry about licensing.

Not saying one way or the other that OP can or can't raise the money or has any business knowledge or capabilities one way or the other...

But, we have no previous knowledge of his connections with wealthy people, maybe he's got a lot of friends or his parents do in the corporate world.

I know a lot of REALLY incompetent people who have TONS of money and make even more money only because of the fact they have enough money to pay people to do what needs to be done.

In the end: Their businesses normally do better, because they step back and their pride/attachment to the business doesn't lead them to making bad business decisions and wrecking it all.

Just my two cents from a business background.

I think most logical people could infer from his trying to raise funds using "fundraiser site(s) like *******" that he has no connections with wealthy people.

The first piece of info he needs to provide is his general location. If he is located in the United States he can stop his operation right now.

If he has to ask people on 2+2 how to go about the most general aspects, he likely will not have the knowledge to put together a proper, extensive business plan that people will want to see to invest in this type of operation.

Not to be mean, but the "I have no friggin idea what I am doing, I have no experience in the particular business, but I want people to give me money for said business" generally does not work out so well.

As others said, if you're in the US, forget it.

Since the OP hasn't returned to respond in this thread, I'm locking it as it was probably just a veiled spam of the web site he mentioned (now edited out), not a serious thread.
