Re: Illinois Looking at Online Poker Through Lottery

Anyone know if this bill goes through if IL will make it illegal for players to play on offshore sites like the state of Washington?

The legislation doesn't currently include any such provision about players.

The IL Senate hearing scheduled for Tuesday 5/29/12 at 9am will include Amendment No. 3 for HB4148 (to authorize Internet gambling).

Listening to the audio now, it's the Room 212 link. I believe they said they would not be doing the HB4148 amendment today.

Next reading is set for 5/31. I thought it has to be voted on before 6/1 otherwise it's considered dead? If I'm wrong, I apologize. I mean I want this to pass living in IL.

I think it has a shot, but maybe 10% this session. However, the longer term prospects are better.

This bill is pretty flexible, the concept of a healthy poker economy is something even a lottery official can grasp as a long term benefit/maximizing recvenue, the bill has openings for both private branding/affiliates (including big Nevada brands) and a common infrastructure, and is flexible about evolution with a growing market among States and other jurisdictions.

Considering how hot-to-trot many posters here were about the 2007 prospects/benefits of Federal licensing and regulation, it seems odd that a State government, willing to do the heavy-lifting of operating and policing a network(s), and handling processing, doesn't get a LOT more love in this forum.....

We will know more later this week.

I agree DQ, i am amazed at the best shot we have Post BF gets such little attention. Maybe with it being talked about in so many states, the scope and odds get lost.

Re: Illinois Looking at Online Poker Through Lottery

There just doesn't seem to be a lot to talk about...

We've seen the amendments get proposed, amended not for the better and then get pushed back without discussion to the point where it has very little hope of passing in the current session. I've e-mailed my reps but I'm not very optimistic about the outcome during the current legislative session. I hope I am wrong...
