I come from Vienna(Austria) where the legal age of gambling is 18... but last week i moved to Manaus( Brasil) for about a year.

So i was
a) trying to find out what the legal age of gambling in brasil is
and
b) if there are any casinos ( or pokerrooms) in manaus

i already searched in the internetz but didnt find anything which i found a bit disturbing..

I haven't been to Brazil in several years. However, when I was there, the only live legal gambling was bingo. Casino games were illegal. That may have changed since then.

I don't know what, if any, laws cover Internet gambling.

I'm unsure myself, however I've spoken to a Brazilian before and he said "poker is illegal" there.

Here in Brazil we have some problems with legislation. See informations below, and sorry for my english

You can play poker live if you have 18 years.
There is prohibited install cassinos here, but we can play in "associations" and have lots of places where you can play. Some tournaments are prizes granted about R$ 50.000,00 up to R$ 300.000,00 dolar convertion US$ to R$ is around 2,30 R$300.000,00 seems like US$ 130.000,00

In Manaus i can't remember if had places like that above, the most of them are in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba and south of country.

We have our Brasilian Series Of Poker (www.bsop.com.br)

Play online here is not prohibited, we can play in worldwide sites without problems.

That is basic information. If you can sign our biggest forum in portuguese www.maisev.com there are people speaking english and can help you.

This tournament was the first of 11 events in the whole year, and 206 people participate, and is a 2 day event. Maybe 190 people participate in the next event.

Next tournament will be in march 07 and 08 in Camboriu, in Santa Catarina (beautiful city with beach, but will be a litlle cold weather probably). If you want to need more information, try to send an e-mail to contato@bsop.com.br

There's no cassinos, only places where people join to play, fields are around 40 or 100, 180 people. Ask more information in the e-mail above, i believe they are very gentle to say to you about everything about our circuit of tournament.

Welcome to Brazil, GL in felts.
