I see this as a positive development but hope that Markell is sensible enough to understand that for iPoker to work in this state we must be part of a pool.

HB333 first on the Senate agenda today; 2012 legislative session ends Saturday.

Senate delays vote on online gambling

Quote:
A Senate vote on the Markell administration’s measure to legalize online gambling was delayed on Tuesday amid concerns that Democratic leaders did not have enough votes to pass the bill.

...

Senate President Pro Tem Anthony DeLuca, D-Varlano, said “I think we had sufficient votes to pass the bill today.”

“We’ll have more votes tomorrow,” he said.

There is still hope!!!

I hope they get this passed today. I feel that if more then one state has regulations in place then the others states will jump of their buts to get something done.

I gave up on a federal bill a long time ago.

Good luck everybody.

At the end of the day, the Lottery is the dog that wags the tail. What is good for the casino/tracks is also good for the Lottery.

Unless the State is REALLY banking on sports-betting revenue, sooner rather than later, which is doubtful, the issues with the casinos can be worked out..... The need for casino/poker revenue is a need that can be met regardless of the delay of sports revenue because of expected litigation.

This hold-up will pass, as, most likely, will a compromise bill.

I hadn't heard this one before: a Senator said that parents will ask their kids to set up their iGaming because they are more tech savvy, so that the kids will now have the password

LOL wtf.

Still, if this passes today I am going to have a mini-celebration tonight. A law that opens the door for an iPoker compact between three small states probably won't bring big-time poker action back into my living room, but it's a start.

One good thing about this bill passing is that it provides for many forms of iGaming, not just poker, which may spur Reid/Kyl into action.

Obie's is still around though I must admit to never having gone there. I'll add that place to my to-do list.

There aren't any new details on this bill on the news wires. I'm getting my info from this forum.

The bill passed without any Senate amendments. So whatever tracks/lottery resolution was or wasn't made it's not in the bill which is ready for the governor's ink.
