Because when there's a ****load of money to protect you argue whatever the **** side is in your interest at the time.

Just like, even though there are different owners before and after, Harrah's lobbied for the UIGEA while Casesars (Harrah's old name) is lobbying for federal legalization and launching bull**** entities like FPUSA.

Sports leagues sue to block betting [ESPN]
The complaint alleges that sports betting in Delaware violates the 1992 anti-sports betting law, as well as the state law which mandates all forms of gambling be games of chance, not skill. The leagues argue that, by going from parlay to single game betting, chance gives way to skill.
These are the same people (the NFL) that argued in 2006 for a fantasy football exemption in the UIGEA because that's a skill game.

LOL. I had forgotten about the NFL arguing that issue here.

Like I said, the whole debate gave me a brain cramp. It was as if everyone wanted to see who could make the dumbest argument possible.

State officials thinking that gaming would solve all financial ills, the NFL arguing that sports betting is a skill and thus should be outlawed,, conservative types accepting parlays as a "compromise" - yeesh. Head asplode.

Welcome to the world of lobbying and lawyering, the fees are real. Ask Senator Al.

Del. outlines e-gambling

Casinos would get millions in relief as games go online [The News Journal]

... the casinos would see their licensing-fee burden reduced by a collective $7.75 million per year ...
... begin selling lottery tickets and offering casino games such as slots, blackjack, poker and roulette online, as well as on mobile phones. ...
... offerings would initially be available only to players within the state, but eventually Delaware could forge agreements with other states for interstate play. ...

897k population.........not enough by itself. Looks like they won't push their luck going from parlays to real wagering on sports.

Do they mean three separate sites, or three skins on a state computer?

It would be great to pool with NJ or nv from there, though.

Re: Delaware IGaming and NFL betting Bill Introduced

"Markell spokesman Brian Selander said legislation to implement the plan, tentatively titled Delaware’s Gaming Competitiveness Act of 2012, is being drafted and will likely be filed sometime next week.

House Majority Leader Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, said legislators are digesting the proposal, and though questions about online gaming will likely abound, he sees no major problems."

I know I'm being a massive bitch in the Texas legislation thread, but I could care less the size of the population. I'll take anything that means a potentially larger pool at this point.

I don't really think it'll take much to accomplish what Merge has right now, add to that the fact that the average amount of discretionary income and credit for an American >>> whoever is playing online right now. I maintain this is all mind-numbingly stupid compared to what we could have, but I gladly accept baby steps.

ummmmm.........everyone is desperate, we want good news, but ponder what happens if a state intranet fails? or barely makes $? delaware has to pool. nj is the only state with a shot to manage merge peak traffic, no way the average, on its own.

This.

Delaware can barely support a 20 table poker room at Delaware Park. The competing for gaming dollars in this area is awesomely fierce.

For iPoker to be successful in Delaware, the state must enter a pool compact. Period.
