Nah, mother nature is drawing dead. We'll be alright.

The Christmas parade is scheduled for tommorrow, plenty of people should already be out and about. The snow will just add to the holiday spirit and all voters will be in a better mood .....right??? I still think we should be alright all the talk is that it will pass handily. Hope so.
Pass handily? Is this what you've been hearing? I hope so.

So, whoever finds out news tomorrow--if at all--ya'll gonna post it here so we're all updated?

One day, One time! ALright, I'm ALL-IN! It's gonna pass! Whose gonna call me?

They are saying it is possible that we may get FIVE inches of snow in Loudoun now. In normal places like Colorado or Minnesota that's the equivalent of 2 feet.

Here is the update for Charles Town:

Periods of snow. Cold. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph. 2 to 4 inches of snow expected.

That would probably depress turnout a tad.

I am not 100% positive but pretty sure that it would be 21. If I recall Mountaineer and Charleston card rooms were both 21.

This may be the first time I'm rooting against snow back there in the homeland. It's always funny to see how the area reacts to it.

In this case, let the voting happen.... then dump a lot of snow! Would love to play when I visit!

Guys, I'm coming up from DC to help taxi people to and from the polls.

Oh wait a minute, they're calling for snow?

Never mind.

My car barely makes it up route 9 in dry weather.

God, PLEASE let the poker room be non-smoking.

I will post an update as soon as I get one on the vote. I expect it to be this evening. We are currently getting a pretty good snowfall; however, roads are still clear. My face is blue from holding my breath.

It's snowing already at 10:00am. Yeah, this could dampen the vote a little, but I'm still hopefull.

With this snow fall, it's the "YES vote" vs the "NO vote" and they're ALL-IN: "YES vote" with an over pair and the "NO vote" with a straight-flush draw on the flop. It's never easy, is it?

I'll always be the Borg's #1 Fan, but now I'll (hopefully) get much more playing time between my AC trips.

With what I have seen from the coverage it seems that most of the NO voters are older more conservative residents. I think the snow is hopefully a good deterrent for them. Its hard to tell though the snow could hurt either side. I go to Shepherd, and my roommate last year worked at the track. His boss showed him the room they already have build, it is taped off where they plan to put tables, and they were very confident the 2nd vote would pass!!!!! Considering the prospect of ctown having tables is the reason I am attending shepherd, these tables better pass!!! "ONE TIME!"

It is a mess here in Loudoun, the snow is coming down really hard and it is very wet and actually accumulating.

I was pretty hopeful for this vote, no thanks to you mother nature.

Casino may start with blackjack if W.Va. votes yes

By VICKI SMITH

(AP)

If a referendum to allow table games at the Charles Town Races & Slots passes Saturday, it will still be at least six months before gamblers can play blackjack.

It would take at least that long to hire and train dealers, says John Finamore, a senior vice president for the parent company, Pennsylvania-based Penn National Gaming Inc. And while West Virginia's other three casinos launched poker first, Finamore says Charles Town will likely start with blackjack, craps and roulette.

That would suck but as long as they get a poker room up and running sometime next year I will be happy.

Considering Penn Nat'l has probably been anticipating passage for years, I'd be surprised if they didn't have games running within a month or two.

I was thinking of this as well. When I recently visited the casino a few weeks ago, I was asking around and talked to someone there who said that the casino, in preparation for the 2007 vote, had ordered tables and shipped in anticipation for the passing vote although it didn't. Apparantly, it was illegal for them to bring in those tables back then becausee there wasn't a vote.

Perhaps, they have those table games stored somewhere and just have to set them up; it's not like that have to go through the manufacturing process and then shipped.

They have 2 rooms already set asside from what I gathered as well. I didn't see them and I don't know all the details, but I wonder if the rooms are already finished decoration or they will need time to lay carpet, fixtures, etc. Perhaps someone who seen the rooms already can chime in here and add some value here.

I think the big hurdle will be the training of the dealers and other floor personnel. I believe that when I looked at it (it may have been earlier in this thread) that May was the optimistic opening time when compared to the other WV rooms.
