Received a great email by FairPlay USA, just felt like sharing:

"Dear Daniel ,

I’m happy to report that the movement to regulate online poker is gaining steam. Our coalition continues to grow, and now we’re starting to see movement in Congress.

On Tuesday, child safety advocate and FairPlayUSA Advisory Board Member Parry Aftab testified before Congress about how crucial it is for online poker to have clear, commonsense regulations -- regulations that will protect both children and players.

She put it perfectly when she told them that “Despite the federal government’s best intentions, consumers and families are on their own without regulations... That is unacceptable.” When players are left in the dark by companies like Full Tilt, or children manage to play online because of the lack of clear oversight, she’s right. It’s unacceptable.

Thanks to everyone who shared their priorities before Parry’s testimony. It’s clear from the responses that protecting players, keeping kids safe, and ensuring an accessible and convenient way for Americans to play one of our most beloved games are top priorities for our supporters.

That’s why Parry’s testimony is representative of what FairPlayUSA is all about -- bringing consumer safety experts, parents, players, law enforcement, and many others together in support of a common goal: clear, commonsense regulations for online poker and the banning of illegal gambling. It’s so important to bring together a coalition like this, one with supporters from all walks of life, because our combined impact is much greater than the sum of our parts.

We had more good news on that front when the National District Attorney’s Association joined our movement. They’ve announced support for FairPlayUSA’s mission to make online poker safe and legal. The more organizations we can bring in to our cause, the more we’ll be able to show lawmakers and the public that the status quo is simply unacceptable.

With support from members like you, FairPlayUSA is going to keep growing until we’ve ended the current “wild west” state of affairs and made online poker safe, secure, and regulated."

Are hard work will not be in vain!

"'Wild west' state of affairs" sounds likes they've been hanging out with the AGA.

Stay tuned for the Reid/Kyl bill.

Is it too early for a twitter campaign championing the Reid/Kyl Online Poker MoneyGrab Bill (that may or may not exist)???

FYI: Pressing the mouse wheel also works and you don't have to hold the CTRL key.

It must depend on your mouse wheel settings. What is yours set on? Mine is on flip by default.

I'm using Linux. It also worked the last time I had a Windows machine (5+ years ago), so I assumed it still did. Sorry, I'm not sure what settings you'd need to use for Windows.

Nothing like early morning tweeting that starts off the day right

Both round 1 & 2 are "Done." Whats really awesome is that Round 2 prefilled Tweet sounds alot like a personal comment I sent to Mary Bono. Great that we have a unified way of thinking!

Received an awesome email from Representative Grace Napolitano this morning, it reads:

October 28, 2011

Mr. Daniel Bonilla

Address: Edited Out

Dear Mr. Bonilla:

Thank you for contacting my office regarding internet gambling. The issue of how to maintain gambling freedom while preventing illicit activities is a complex one, and I am presently taking the time to review the diverse opinions regarding this issue.

The Internet gambling industry has exploded in the last decade. Americans spent more than $12 billion through online gambling businesses in 2005, but the U.S. Justice Department considers most forms of Internet gambling to be illegal, unless regulated by states. Proponents of restricting internet gambling point out that dated laws and evolving technology have so far allowed internet gambling sites to evade U.S. law. Those who oppose it make important arguments as well, pointing out that it could drive Internet gambling "underground" rather than prevent the feared social consequences and criminal activity.

I remain concerned that for some, compulsive online gambling can lead to severe personal hardships. It is a serious problem for many high school and college students who have access to a credit card. In addition, federal law enforcement officials have testified that off-shore Internet gambling sites serve as a vehicle for money laundering by organized crime and could be exploited by terrorists to raise and launder money.

I appreciate the link you sent regarding the study conducted by Harvard University. I have advised my staff to research this particular issue in more detail.

It's great getting a somewhat positive feedback from our representatives, it really shows are work is paying off. Anybody conduct any personal interviews or conversations with any representatives or subcommittees recently?

P.S. Does anybody know where to pick/order some of those cool Poker Players Alliance patches I've seen people sporting?
