A new compact between Governor Crist of Florida and the Seminole tribe was signed today. It contains a provision regarding internet gaming that would reduce the tribal revenue-sharing payment to the state of Florida if either
federal or state law is enacted to specifically authorize internet gaming, and the yearly tribal revenues subsequently drop by 5% or more.

This compact probably will not be ratified by the Florida legislature (for other reasons), but it's very interesting to note that the tribe included this provision, in anticipation of the possibility of new legislation covering internet gaming.

agreed- you'd expect the Indian lobbyists to have their ear close to ground zero on any gambling topics.

Which is bad news for us, IMO, unless we can prove that our revenue is not competition

I was thinking the state should insist on a bigger cut if internet gambling is legalized and their revenue subsequently increases.

As the current compact will be dead it's interesting to see if this provision makes it into the version that does pass the legislature. I don't see the paramutuals worried over it and other casinos will be onboard with this.
