IS it illlegal to deposit funds using my visa check card that i have from my bank here in the United States

No, there is no law against you using any deposit method to put money in a poker site. But the bank may not allow it because of UIGEA. Try it and see if it goes through. The poker sites use third-party processors so the banks don't easily spot them as a gambling site. And some banks aren't paying any attention to UIGEA regulations yet, as they don't have to until December. I've never had a deposit problem with a major bank credit card or check card, on any site. I've also used echecks, which the bank must honor.
