I'm sure Pappas was talking about how he wants to see only poker regulated, but of course the stupid ****ing segment they show didn't portray that message.
If we are setting ourselves up for a compromise, I don't think this is so terrible.

If there are 8 million new addicts, that means there are about a billion new players. Haha. The segment was stupid. After the addicted guy spoke, Faux News says the guy admits that MOST people don't get addicted and acknowledged the recreational appeal.

Also, more poker is chance incoherent bs with logic such as since the DoJ says poker is gambling, it is gambling. CS Monitor incoherent poker is not skill article

F. Fahrenkopf = AGA = "ban online gaming except for iPoker"= save the kids. This is great because it puts pressure on the Feds to finally lay the law down = save the kids.

Abruzzo said he will not push for online ticket sales for other Florida Lottery games now but will file an amendment to an existing gambling bill that would allow the Florida Lottery to offer online poker. Abruzzo's state-run poker game would protect players from going bust by putting limits on the number of bets and the amount that a player could wager.

"The difference between online lottery and online poker is that poker is taking place anyway," Abruzzo said. "We're harnessing in what's already taking place. With the major offshore operators being shut down, we should be the only legal game in town."

The numbering of the issues is wrong.

Issue 2 It's For The Kids!
Issue 3 They Tax You Twice
Issue 3 They Try to Block Everyone Else

Other than that, I agree with everything written. People shouldn't play the lottery.

Just wow at this comment on that CS article: *maybe a level?*

"I live in Joe Barton's district. He is a good man. He has fought against those on the other side trying to stop global warming which as we know is God's call to us all for judgement day. But my girlfriends and I were talking about his poker bill during Church bingo on Sunday. Now I'll admit there is not a lot of skill in bingo, but I've been told I have a pretty mean left dauber, especially during the big jackpot games! So we were talking about poker and we all agreed: Why would we want to use our minds and think strategically and all that when we can just sit here and smoke and chat and daub away? There is no place in God's America for the cold analytical and strategic thinking that the devil wants to teach you by letting you play poker. So Mr. Barton is wrong here, though we still love him because he is truly a god-fearing man."

State officials studying feds’ ruling on online poker [VegasInc - 4 January 2012]
...

Among those calling for federal legislation is Mark Lipparelli, chairman of the state Gaming Control Board, who fears that a lack of clarification could lead to online pandemonium.

“A piece of federal legislation is going to be a necessity,” Lipparelli said. “What we’re afraid of is that somebody’s going to do it in a way that has an unattractive outcome. The question is how we create a common set of standards and rules.”

“Well, we’re working hard with Senator Lesniak to try to get it right. Here’s my view on it. I think New Jersey should be in that business. I think we should be a epicenter for that business, but I want to do it right. I do not want to rush and get legislation that either doesn’t pass state constitutional muster, or creates other problems for us. So, I know that [Christie chief of staff] Kevin O’Dowd was working last night with Senator Lesniak on this issue, and I’m hopeful we can get it resolved as quick as possible.
