Dual address legal implications? (USA - MD) Dual address legal implications? (USA - MD)

11-26-2013 , 08:55 AM
My primary state of residence is MD (Baltimore), so naturally my license, passport, etc are all based there. However, I have a potential alternate address in Pittsburgh - my Mom's house.

Maryland, of course, has got extremely restrictive laws about internet poker.

So hypothetical question - if I'm a legal resident of MD but can get mail in PA (but still have ID based in MD) - how would the online venues view that? If I registered, and got good enough to the point where I had actual winnings to withdraw, would the venue see my ID (through verification) and go, "Oh, hell no"?

Further would I be subject to any legal penalties in MD for using an alternate address to register and then playing online anyway within state borders?

Well, you will have to prove that you live in PA. Usually they want a utility bill, drivers license or anything from the Gov. to prove you live there.
Good luck if you try it without being able to prove where you live or prove who you are.
Why would you have legal problems. I can/have proved that I live in El Paso, Tx--Las Vegas, Nv and in Mexico. I have cashed out from L V to my bank--same in Mexico to my Mexican bank (using skrill) and when I go to N J I will use my Tx address although if I win there I will cash to the Casino.

It would be easier if you specified what sort of sites you are talking about - US-licensed sites (NJ, NV, DE, etc.) or US-facing offshore sites?

For the US-licensed sites, it doesn't matter which is your state of residence. You can play anytime you are physically within the borders of the state where the site is located (NJ, NV, DE, etc.), and then cashout from anywhere. You do have to provide accurate residency information to these sites, but only for identity verification. There are no legal implications in regards to playing on these sites from within their state borders, and then cashing out from Maryland. The MD laws do not apply to your Internet poker play when you are physically outside of MD st the time of play.
