#lol, the Horseshoe in Hammond is literally two blocks from the border of Chicago. Not to mention five other casinos in the IL suburbs.

When the guy above (Mike "The Emperor" Madigan) runs your State you end up with this rating:

More accurately, when you have citizens that consistently put in power guys like Madigan, Blago, Quinn, Ryan, et.al., you end up with a rating like that.

The entire country elected Bush AND Obama...the stupidity does not stop at the boarders of Illinois.

And just to clarify, three of your above named Illinois politicians are/were not "power" guys. Madigan is a power guy, but the other three are not at all. Quinn is so marginalized its amazing. He is merely Madigan and Cullerton's puppet. Blago and Ryan were not power guys either...they were just flat out corrupt and dumb enough/not powerful enough that it resulted in them getting caught.

Bush didn't win the popular vote the second time for what it's worth.
So really, the privileged elite from the electoral college elected him.

1) It was the first time.
2) No, that's not what the 'electoral college' is.

Re: Finally Illinois Has an Online Bill

Since the thread was bumped anyway... what are the thoughts from the Morgan Stanley report put out a short time ago about online poker in the US?

To save time for some that aren't interested in the entire report, here is what they said about online poker in Illinois:

Is this a plausible scenario or overly optimistic?

Morgan Stanley has a proven track record of making predictions about online gambling that do not come true.

I stand corrected.

Anyhow, I hope the IL bill becomes law soon.
I'm right on the border in Indiana.
Would be easy to cross over and play every now and then.
How we did it in the 70s and 80s when IL was first with the lottery.

Not going to happen during Veto session (Nov 19th). Until the Casinos and Horse-tracks get on the same page, probably won't happen during spring session either.

Re: Finally Illinois Has an Online Bill

Dunno about upstate, but downstate there are tons of these new gambling machines popping up everywhere around here recently. I hesitate to call them slot machines yet, but that's basically what they are. They've definitely had an impact on the nearest casino in Metropolis, but last I heard on the local news the Harrah's riverboat there is planning to or maybe currently is already moving to a larger land-based location. Not sure why the expansion, I've heard business was bad lately.

Tbh I kinda hope online gambling legislation isn't too soon, then we probably get a rushed second-rate product and illinois-only poker. Also hoping they learned from the lotteries and join the push for inter-state compacts.

Maybe we should take a page from TheEngineer's book and push our local lawmakers a little on the issue.

Re: Finally Illinois Has an Online Bill

Rather than do anything productive or even attempt to get our state out of financial trouble after decades of corruption, it seems our governor only wants to fight with Indiana and blame them for all our problems. Doesn't look like anything involving ipoker will happen for a long while, just a ton of budget cuts getting proposed lately.

No idea where Morgan Stanley got their info(they were really vague compared to other states' info), but I don't know if its even relevant anymore with the way things have been going lately.

Morgan Stanley has been making these absurdly optermistic statements about online poker regulation for years. Why does anyone believe them?
