I don't know why anyone would have ever thought it would be straightforward for PokerStars to obtain gaming licenses in US jurisdictions.

First, despite everything that has been said around here, it's perfectly clear that Stars violated at least SOME laws. They violated Washington State law while the Dormant CC challenge was pending, and they violated New York law, where poker is illegal. And they violated UIGEA based on those predicates, and probably IGBA as well.

Second, even if we assumed they never violated US law, the fact of the matter is that they basically took advantage of a business opportunity by thumbing their nose at regulators while other poker sites did not. This is a big deal for regulators. They don't want a company run by people who will look for legal loopholes to disobey their directives.

I like Stars. I appreciate what they offered to US poker players. But I suspect they are going to have a very limited role in the US market going forward.

now we know what prize CET wanted. They just increased rake (assuming $1 dealer tip) to 20% in live games. I wonder if they will just grab as many chips from the pot as they can for the rake, like in the old days of Las Vegas poker, in their online games.

Are you including the extra $1 drop for the BBJ? If they do this Borgata will get all the action.

Revel has a better deal for free rooms and the Golden Nugget has better promotions.

Many here, and in the press are misunderstanding the deadline. The deadline is only to guarantee a decision by the go live date. Casinos can still apply after that, they will just be at a disadvantage because they will not be live when the first ones are.
