Re: river raise

I think Sauce is missing the point that smaller flushes would bet the turn. Nothing plays the river this way except a boat or a bluff. And it is a horrible spot to bluff, UNLESS Villain knows we don't play a set this way.

The only way Villain would know that would be if we ALWAYS b3b flop with sets (or nut flush/sf draws). Still, I would not expect a rational Villain to ever try to bluff out any flush.

I rarely raise or 3bet flops (in single raised pots) in general. In this spot I would probably only raise sets (I know it's unbalanced, I just see his range as strong and those are the only hands that I feel have immediate value to 3bet with). Against a reg, I would consider just calling my entire continuing range, including sets, as a way of protecting all my weaker hands that I want to call with. The downside, of course, is that I lose the option of bluff 3betting, but I don't think that is a big problem unless I know that villain is raising alot of flops (in which case I can adjust my default strategy).

if villain's range is only sets, we should check/fold the river because he can't have worse than a boat.

bet/call, with c/f being somewhere between a close and distant 2nd and b/f or c/c being exquisitely retarded.
