I resisted upgrading to TN2 since it came out because I'd heard so many horror stories. When the update to PS7 broke TN1 last week I decided to trial TN2, and honestly I can't see what all the fuss is about. Other than a few teething troubles at the start it works almost flawlessly and I love the fact it works across different sites so I have it handling my tiling layout, timebank, default betsizing and hotkeys for 3 sites simultaneously.

Anybody who has experience of both - what's wrong with TN2, and why is Starshelper better?

There is no need to make such a program subscription based. There are more powerful and stable tools out there for less money if u play stars only. If u multisite its good though.

Subscription makes sense to me for a product that has to be constantly updated and supported. I'd guess the main reason they even created TN2 was because everyone had bought TN1 for $50 or whatever 5 years ago and they were still having to constantly support and update it every time a site changed their layouts, fonts, images etc.

Yeah StarsHelper >> TN. Especially now that TN2 is taking the piss with a heavily priced subscription based model.

greed based, i like the idea that if PT or HEM ever tried to go monthly sub there would be a new competitor in there so fast

It's not greed based, HM2 should be subscription based imo.
That way they could actually manage it better, update faster, I don't see how there is any controversy here->they need to keep monitoring and updating for different sites, different windows versions and all that is costly for them, they should make it subscription based.

We are greedy for expecting to pay less than 1 buyin for a lifetime use and update of a program that improves our winrate

The price/format of HM2/PT4 is obviously linked to market conditions. Considering their current pricing scheme, I'd assume that there are relatively low barriers to entry such that they can't justify significant increases in effective price without losing a significant portion of their demand.

Yes, but why? I keep hearing this but don't really hear many arguments for it other than the bugs that TN2 had on release that seem to have been ironed out now.

Agree with Jon above. Subscription makes far more sense, and although it seems expensive, that's only because we're used to what we've been paying - which given the amount of support and constant updates that these programs need to proved, was probably way too little in the first place.
