If a losing player busts his roll in 50/100 less rake will be generated than if he busts it in a smaller game (or better yet in sports betting). So having higher stakes tables can actually cost them money.

The megafish mentioned a couple posts earlier ITT is actually a good example. Ongame would have profited a lot more if the fish had lost the same (or even half) amount in 10/20 what he lost in 50/100. Then again maybe he would never have deposited if 25/50 was the highest game and would have taken his action elsewhere. Who knows, but its a balancing act of maximizing profits for the poker site.

bwin is major in sportsbetting = lots of fish who want to play some pokers from time to time. bwin gone = fish gone ( not all obv but still.. ).
